Everybody knows action movies are fake, but that doesn't change the fact that they're responsible for approximately 100 percent of our education on the subject of guns and combat. That's why the average person's knowledge of those things is hilariously, sometimes fatally, wrong.
To sort out fact from fiction, we interviewed two decorated combat veterans who also have experience working in Hollywood. Matt Wagner is a former Army Ranger who saw combat all over the world, including Africa, South America, and Afghanistan, then was a technical consultant for a number of Hollywood productions, including Stargate SG-1 and The Colt. Jerry McFakename (not his real name) was a private military and security contractor who worked throughout Central and South America and spent time as a stuntman and fight choreographer. They told us ...

How did you know the caliber?
Yeah, we miss you, Leslie Nielsen. Rest in peace. You’re in a better place. One gif and I’m cheered up more than I thought I could be today. Thanks for the levity.
...and upside down.
I know they did that with car gas tanks. No they don’t explode, not even with tracer bullets.
They actually made silencers for Moisin-Nagant revolvers, the round has a recessed slug and the entire cylinder moves forward to meet the back end of the barrel, sealing cylinder face to barrel breech, no gap allowing noise or gases to escape.
One of the most realistic gunfight scenes was in Clint Eastwood’s unforgiven.
To start with, a man is shot in the belly by the assassins, in the open. Both groups are keeping their heads down. The shot man is incapacitated, and suddenly very thirsty because of being shot in the belly, a realistic thing that happens. So he is shouting for water, but his friends are too scared to go out and get him.
Finally, the assassins yell out to the other side to give him some water, and that they won’t shoot. But this is horrible advice, as giving someone with a belly shot water almost guarantees they will die.
Eventually the assassins just leave.
From the point of view of pure realism, that rocked. Along with another assassination of a protected man, who made the fatal mistake of going by himself to the outhouse. They shot him while he was sitting on the seat.
I know that nor was my comment directed to you personally......
I tried searching the web on this Matt Wagner guy and could find nothing........
Silencer on a revolver? How about an Angola silencer? A cheap homemade silencer on the barrel of a .22 revolver which was made of a plastic coke bottle filled with foam rubber. The hit made on Vincent Sherry and his wife used such a contraption.
Is there actually another Bruce fan on FR?
Understood. In any case, hope the truth comes out.
He went as he went.
My pleasure. It’s nice to have good memories brought back.
It said 7mm on the side of the slug as it whizzed by.... : )
Even as a mere ‘no nothing’ lad I used to get a chuckle out of the ‘good guy’ (we Knew he was the good guy, he was wearing the White Hat) would be riding through a gully with dudes lining both sides of the cliff shooting at him with rifles...Missing him and his horse..
He not only managed to ride unscathed through the hail of bullets, but would also be firing his six shooters - in full gallop - and picking the bad guys of the ridge....
Each six shooter had about 50 shots.... But the accuracy was remarkable. <: <:
I suppose I have overdone the detail once again - it’s just part of the experience I guess.
Yeah, that and the whine of a ricochet when there's no hard surface around, or the atom-bomb like flaming gas explosion and people flying through the air when a hand grenade goes off.
Always liked the music.
But, man, the politics are dumb.
The worst scene from the Matrix was when Keanu shoots his gun, the camera follows the bullet on its trajectory and the bullet is flying through the air with the casing attached.
Resident Evil Part 2; There was a scene of a bullet spinning through the air after being fired from a pistol. The bullet had no rifling marks.
