Cities that Drive the Most--and Least--American Cars

What could be more American than a Chevrolet Camaro? The answer might surprise you: A study by American University's Kogod School of Business found that the Toyota Camry (78.5%) and the Honda Accord (76%) both contain more domestic content than the Chevrolet Camaro (68%), which barely edges out the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (67.5%) and the Kia Sorento (67%).

The fact is, we live in a brave new world where "American" cars are built in Korea, "German" cars originate in Mexico and "Japanese" cars come from the good old US of A. But that's not all—parts for cars assembled in America often come from abroad. That means the cars in a city crowded with GM, Ford and Chrysler products might be less American than one filled with Toyotas and Hondas.

American name plate cars built by Commie voting UAW workers are less American than Japanese cars (like mine) built in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee by American voting non-union workers.

I have a 2007 Honda Accord. I have been sick and only have 21,000 miles on it. Would not buy anything else. Everyone is amazed at the trunk size. Someone told me 5 bodies and a bag of lime would fit in it. : )

There NO ONE more AMERICAN than ME and I drive a 1992 Chevrolet K-1500(4x4 Pick Up) for my “work” truck, A 2013 Subaru Forester(My wife’s daily Driver(Omaha VA Nurse)) and for my Daily Driver a 2006 Ford F-150 (4X4 Pick Up). NO GMs(when the Chevy dies it will not be replaced) and NO Chryslers for EVER AGAIN!

I would guess the vast majority those American vehicles in South West are Ford F-150’s, better than any other vehicles in the world...IMO!

Fine by me and a great addition to bolster the argument about returning manufacturing to America.

Fact is, we make tons of stuff and if Korea and Japan see the economic sense of local manufacturing of their products to gain a foothold and market share, it makes sense we do the same around the world.

Now, if we could find a way to bust into China similarly it would be incredible for American employment.

Won’t happen and I expect China will start making automobiles soon, exporting them to the USA and we’ll fall all over ourselves for their cheaper alternative.

When GM dies again, America should enforce a DNR and make room for real innovators.

I remember a time when if you drove a Datsun in Pittsburgh you had to be careful where you parked it, lest a disgruntled Union steelworker come along and take a sledgehammer to it.

Would you fly a Jap flag in your front yard if it was made in America?

We need a do-over, noting that there’s nothing “patriotic” about supporting GOVERNMENT MOTORS!!!!

My car was made in Ohio. Do you know where our flags are made? China. I am alone and go out of state frequently and this car is very dependable. This is my 4th Honda. I do not want a car that is half made right like some my late husband had.
