For the second time in five years, the 89-year-old shop owner was confronted with an armed bandit trying to rob his jewelry store. He fought back, pulled his own handgun and shot the robber five times.
Although the gun weilding thief was half his age, Lewis wasn't giving in. When the robber first pulled out the gun, Lewis grabbed his wrist and began a desperate arm wrestling match. Somehow, Lewis managed to get his own gun out.

The other day here in Houston an Indian store clerk who got his permit several years ago killed a would be robber. He carries his Glock on his side. The robber pointed a gun at him and he said he knows lots of times after you give them the money they still kill you. So he pulled his pistol out of the holster and shot the dude in the face. There was a happy ending.

Lewis said he grabbed the man's wrist and during the struggle, the robber's gun went off. Lewis pulled his own piece out and started blasting.
The suspect, Lennard Patrick Jervis, 43, of Miramar, took four gunshot wounds to the chest, with another bullet hitting both his wrist and his leg.
The fighting escalated when a wounded Jervis jumped over the counter, and the two went hand to hand again.
That whole "shoot to wound" thing? It doesn't work.

The guy’s still alive. 4 shots to the chest, 1 through the wrist and into the leg. Time to upgrade Pop. Perhaps another 5 shot revolver only this time a .357 mag. Good shooting though.
