A pair of high-profile NFL rookies crossed paths Saturday night -- a meeting highlighted by Michael Sam mimicking Johnny Manziel.
Sam, the first openly gay active player in NFL history, mocked Manziel's "money sign" after sacking the Heisman Trophy winner in the fourth quarter of the St. Louis Rams' preseason victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Of course, and I expect that Michael Sam will make an NFL roster this year and will rack up a few affirmative action tackles, sacks and maybe a fumble recovery or two. But, will the NFL will be a asterisk by has name to denote that?
I hope someone does. It would be waste of raw talent. However, Cleveland has been a talented rookie QB graveyard in the past 10 years or so.

Actually Sam, (the “Man’s man”), is doing pretty good in the pre-season. Four sacks and other good defensive plays. He can play ball.

Why would he be fined? The bird is considered a dirty word and it landed on TV thus potentially creating an FCC problem for the network. The money sign is just the money sign, Manziel does it all the time without getting fined.

But the money sign is Manziel’s signature gesture and when done by an opposing player against Johnny is taunting, not unlike the taunting of Tim Tebow was subjected to when he was sacked.

Sam was taunting Johnny and taunting is against NFL rules.
