I carry concealed a nice glock .40. Fits female hand great, but want a short barrel home invasion shotgun loaded for bear. Any recommendations on a reliable, relatively light-weighted weapon? Brand? Model? Thanks!
Just gave my old drummer my old Remington 1100. 5 shots. Gave him the slug barrel cuz it’s short, His house was robbed while he was in the hospital. It;s kind of secluded.
Remington. Blast any looters to kingdom come!
Hahaha. Love the tagline!
Thanks. I’ll take a look.
Get one you don’t mind losing if it comes to that.
If you’re going to be doing home invasions, I recommend body armor in addition to your shotgun...
That's it on the left, just to the right of the door out of the kitchen, hanging conveniently.
Model 88.
It does what needs to be done. Easy to handle, hangs without a problem for years without being touched....
Handles 3" high brass with no complaint.
I'm satisfied.

I used a Remington 870 when I worked in a California prison. I rather liked it. One of the weapons experts there, told me Remington first, Mossberg second. I like guns, but I do not know them like my friend does.
Are you going to keep it loaded? Chambered? Cocked?
Do you want a pump shotgun for deterrent effect racking a round into the chamber, or the fast shooting of a semi-auto?
Your choices are roughly pump, semi-auto, and double-barrel breech...in long barrel or short barrel form (deadlier at close range, and likely to pepper someone at medium/long range).
You have to decide what suits your style, likely tactic (e.g. stay hidden or go charging), and physical geography/topography of the home area you are defending. Lots of open spaces or tightly cluttered?
What you should have in addition to whatever firearm you select are:
#1: a good dog
#2: any bulletproof vest (often $100 on ebay/craigslist and under $400 on bulletproofme.com), but level 3a if you can afford it
#3: caltrops. If you are staying in place...such as defending one room and not intending to go “sweep” your house room to room, then you toss the caltrops outside your room-door to prevent an intruder from rushing you no matter your weapon situation (re-loading, jammed, out of ammo, etc.)
#4: bear spray or tear gas grenade (if your locality lets you own any form of pepper spray then you can use this to fog your house to give you a way to clear your residence without sweeping room to room)...in close quarters pepper spray is a good emergency backup plan should your weapon jam or run out of ammo. Of COURSE, on the internet everyone has multiple firearm backups. rolls eyes.
Mossberg 590 Mariner.

Make sure the string doesn’t hang up on the nail if you have to grab it in a hurry.
Bookmark.
Now why would a nice girl like you be doing home invasions?
Oh brother. : )~
I suggested shotgun, with a variety of loads and maybe barrels. What worries me is his rather small wife. She may or may not decide to participate. If she does, a 12ga may intimidate her to the point of avoidance.
Looking forward to comments about smaller gauge shotguns, other than the .410 of course. Dunno how available 16 and 20 even are these days, or loads for them. Got to be easy on small women at least.
And it's parachute cord, not string. UV light sucks for string.

I predict the #1 suggesttion will be Remington 870.
The #2 suggestion will be Mossberg 500.
The #3 type will be the new various bullpups.
!
Or, alternatively, toy soldiers or Leggos(tm).
