The Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon Could Be Gay
New York Magazine ^ | 8/15 | Anna Silman

Posted on 08/15/2014 10:29:37 AM PDT by nickcarraway

The sexuality of fan favorite Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) has long been a source of speculation for Walking Dead fans, and in an interview with comicbook.com, series creator Robert Kirkman addressed the question directly. When asked whether Daryl's being homosexual was a possibility they had considered, Kirkman said, “All I can say is that it’s been discussed. We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing … we’ll tackle it in the show.” The interviewer followed up by asking whether AMC would be okay with Daryl being gay, to which Kirkman responded, “For the record, they absolutely would.” Judging by the season-five trailer there aren't a lot of quiet periods in our future (couldn't they have addressed this when we were hanging out at that damn farmhouse?), but hey, you never know.

Problem is what’s your definition of “in your face”. For most on here it’s being reminded they exist. There’s already a lesbian character on the show, she’s minor, but so was Daryl when the show started. It’s not really a make-out and sex scene kind of show so it’ll never really be “in your face”, unless of course you think being reminded they exist in “in your face” which would really be your problem.

There’s fetish balls too. They do a lot of whacky stuff. Naked displays happen in SF for any occasion, not just the gay ones. It’s how that town rolls, and why it smells so bad.

You keep saying that, but nothing about this is my problem.
If you don’t see that many homosexuals are obscene and flagrant about their sex, then I just can’t help ya.

Many [fill in the blank] are obscene and flagrant about their [whatever the hell it is they do]. But only one group causes a symphony of whining when somebody decides to add a fictional one to a show. Where’s the great uproar about the evils of philanders when one shows up on a TV show? There’s a lot more of them out in the world than homosexuals and they do a lot more damage to the building blocks of our society, but nobody has a freak out when some TV character cheats on their fictional spouse. You’ve decided to obsess on one thing, and then you blame it on them. 100% your problem. All you’ve got to do is realize they’re just another oddball group and get on with your life and the whole problem evaporates. You own your own brain, do some house cleaning.

Not even close. They’re just the only one you’re bothering to notice. Once again, it’s all you. You can either ignore them the way you do all the others, or pay attention to all the others. I recommend the former.

Oho. I see the light. It’s all me. You, who don’t know me and don’t know what kind of things I won’t allow into my head, know this. LOL

Really you’ve told me all about you. You like to complain about people. You can’t be bothered to control your own inputs, especially not if it would keep you from having something to complain about. And you take no responsibility, especially when there’s other people to blame. Prove me wrong, stop paying attention to gays, see how quickly they fall off your radar. Any further posts you make on the topic prove me right.

Um, they are rotting away, slowly. Deteriorating. But not everyone became a zombie at the same moment and people are still dying and becoming zombies, so they would not all be rotting at the same level. If you watch the show you will see this in the zombies. Some look “fresher” than others.

Yes, they are dead in the traditional sense, but in some ways they are still alive (moving, eating) so that could explain why maggots don’t destroy them, or maybe something in the virus itself could repel flies. It’s a fantasy show, explanations are endless. ;)

It's one of those things that they really goofed up. The zombies are rotting as is obvious by all the rot yet they never produce a bad smell. Rotting flesh manages to just sneak up on people!? In one episode there was a dead dog who was not animated and when they uncovered the blanket exposing the dead dog they all repelled by the smell. I find that very disappointing.

But you are right it's just a fantasy show. I'm perfectly ok with vampires but I hate it when they are having sex or when they don't care about crosses or using ultraviolet bullets. But sure old school vampires are just fine.
