LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) Former American Idol finalist Michael Johns has died, according to various reports.
The Hollywood Reporter says Johns, a season 7 top ten contestant, died Friday from a blood clot in his ankle.
TMZ reported Johns had twisted his ankle and was in a great deal of pain. They also said he died in his sleep.
Former Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told TMZ, He was a great talent and dear friend. My boys and I are devastated.
The Australian-born heart throb came in #8 in the season eventually won by David Cook.
Johns born Michael John Lee released an album, Hold Back My Heart, in 2009.
US Weekly reported that Johns just tweeted last week that he was ready to go back into the studio and record a new song called Reckless.
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Stacey Vuduris, a Hollywood interior designer.
That’s a good joke, in a macabre, Vincent Price kind of way.
Re; the spectre of Death; “Don’t call him, he’ll call you!”.
wow
I hate needles and giving myself shots might be too much
I bet you could do it. I hate them, too--while I'm on the blood thinners, I have my blood drawn to check the level of the meds, and it freaks me out. But those belly shots weren't bad. The needle was tiny, and it slipped right in.
The thing is, the doctor told me clots are very common, and anyone can get them. They sent me to a hematologist who told me I was the fourth clot patient that day. Make sure to get up every hour and move around...your calf muscle acts like a pump to keep your blood flowing.
Good advice for freepers who spend so much time here as I do and for my nephew who spends all day and night on the XBox
Absolutely
Hope and pray she is OK. Feel free to keep us posted.
........I saw him and talked to him at a Charity Tennis Match. He sang a wonderful version of the Star Spangled Banner at the beginning of the doubles match between the Bryan Bros. and some unknown guys.
Was a VERY nice young man!
Likewise it can travel to the lungs.
And a pulmonary embolism is something you DO NOT want!
She is in her room now groggy and in pain. I’m trying to be quiet so she can sleep through it.
It is good, a blessing, to be present to offer comfort and support for the ones we love.
Glad she is through the surgery part. Hope her pain subsides soon enough.
“A twisted ankle will not kill you, but a blood clot resulting from a twisted ankle might.”
If we are to assume that a blood clot from the twisted ankle broke loose and either caused a stroke or heart attack, then what you say is true. Note that DMSO, dimethyl sulfoxide, administered orally or topically, will dissolve blood clots. DMSO administered orally, topically or IV will stop a stroke. Every medicine cabinet should contain a bottle of DMSO.
See my post No 32.
I think something else was in play here. I’ve never heard of a blood clot below the knee resulting in a fatality.
Rest in peace.
The short-term injections a clot patient has to self-administer are called Lovenox (Enoxaparin Sodium).
A deep vein thrombosis, or DVT (blood clot in the leg) is nothing to mess around with or to try and self-medicate. If a person is having any of the symptoms-—calf pain, redness, swelling-—immediate medical attention is required. The blood-thinning pills take about a week to kick in, which is why the shots are necessary in the meantime.
Also, trying to thin your blood on your own is extremely risky. You might not thin it enough, resulting in death from the clot, or you might thin it too much, resulting in death from bleeding. You would have no way of knowing. Just don’t try it.
These clots can break off quickly and with no warning, and they can kill. They don’t result in strokes or heart attacks-—they go to the lungs and cause pulmonary embolism.
It happens all the time.
Ever wondered what anti-embolism/compression stockings were used for?
Oh no - I remember and liked him. God bless him and his family...
