The City of San Marcos is downsizing. It's reducing the size of its trash carts by 30 gallons to cut back on the amount of garbage being dumped at landfills... San Marcos customers will be put to the test October 1.That's when the older trash carts will be replaced by the new smaller ones. Customers who want to keep the bigger carts will have to pay at least $3 more a month.

The site is from Austin. Anything coming out of Austin or its surrounding areas (San Marcos commutes to Austin for work) is tainted with wacky liberal thinking. Austin's city motto is, “Keepin’ Austin Weird”, which goes along with uber lib Univ. of TX (where one of it's bio profs, Pianka, teaches his students that ebola is a good thing for wiping out 90% of the human race), the nudists at Hippy Hollow, tree huggers and enviro nuts (save the salamanders!).

Oh, no! The tiny Barton Creek salamander's aquifer might dry up so everyone must have a drought fee attached to their water bill. You can't get a pool permit for your backyard because of the drought, either. Not that I care about their McMansions lacking a pool but do agree with water restrictions because the lake is down by 50-60 feet but most of the problem has to do with so many illegals residing there. Deport the illegals and there’d be plenty of water for everyone!

Nowhere else can you find hippies time-warped out of the 60s. We've also had a large influx of Californians who are trying to change TX into CA and they're succeeding what with red/blue political maps showing a big blue blight in the middle of the Lone Star State. If only Texas could secede and move Austin to D.C.

Ok, stepping off my soapbox.

If they do it here, we might have to plunk down the $14 a month for another trash bin

Thanks for the sitrep, you have my condolences, being under invasion from the west and south. You can maybe deport the latters, but it’s gonna take a whole new level of weirdness to scare off those pesky hippieFornians...maybe outlaw tofu? ;)

In my neighborhood it is acceptable practice to use someone else’s bin when your bin is full. On trash night there are always neighbors walking the curb checking to see whose bin has room available. We all just smile and wave. It’s no big deal.
