The Parents Television Council is slamming NBC's Today for airing the first trailer for the movie version of Fifty Shades of Grey during its 8 a.m. hour. ...
"We're talking about basically the equivalent of a dime-store trashy romance novel [in the Fifty Shades of Grey book]. Essentially, what Today's doing is they're promoting what people refer to as mommy porn. That's what it boils down to. Today is helping to promote mommy porn. That's a pretty poor judgment on their part in terms of their attitude towards their audience."

The Parents Television Council is not the only organization that's slamming the Fifty Shades trailer. Anti-porn education group Morality in Media released a statement condemning the clip for how it "romanticizes and normalizes sexual violence."

"The implications of such a relationship — abuse of power, female inequality, coercion, and sexual violence — glamorizes and legitimatizes violence against women," the organization's executive director, Dawn Hawkins, said in a statement. "The popularity of Fifty Shades of Grey among women sends a message to men that this is what women really want. A warning to the women lining up to see this film: There is nothing empowering about whips and chains or humiliation and torture. Women as a group will not gain power by collaborating with violent men. Women would be serving only as an agent to further their own sexual degradation, handing themselves on a silver platter to exactly the sort of men who want to use and abuse them, and take away their power…"

There are many reasons to slam nbc and this is one of them.
There will be many sources for the traler on line.
People will either see the movie or not. That’s the way the country works. They sold a lot of books, perhaps the movie will tank.
I hate our culture. I can’t believe over 70 years we let the Progressives redefine it, destroy religion, force us to embrace sin and debauchery, and give up our own freedoms willingly. And for what? We are dumber than ever. Perhaps 5% of H.S. students in America today could pass a Middle School final exam from 1880. Our economic prospects are more fragile than ever, and will get much worse with illegal aliens and robotics. Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World now look optimistic by comparison to what I see coming.

Who has time to watch the today show? I have to get to work, no time or interest in watching it. Probably geared to those who don’t have to get to work in the morning.

Haven’t seen it, haven’t read the books, and have no intention of doing so. That said, apparently enough “normal” women watch or read this stuff for it to have had an effect, and a very bad one.
I have a family member who is a police detective dealing with crimes against minors, and she said that the number of female sexual abusers has soared in the last few years. They all watch porn - a lot of them start out watching it with their husbands or boyfriends, and go on to develop an interest in it on their own.
Movies and books like this just normalize it and it’s not only “sad lonely women” who seem to be viewing and even engaging in it.
I read the book because my daughter was reading it....it is a pure “Pop Culture” promotion and the ignorant masses fall for the agitprop 100% of the time. It is hard to be young and not a part of the “in” crowd and if you don’t submit to sodomy now...you are not “open minded”—you are bigoted and a “hater”.
If you don’t think “homosexual” marriage is “good”, you are a hater and bigoted and you will be labeled as such and demeaned and ridiculed in culture. Shamed into believing Vice is Virtue and so you throw out Christian Ethics and Reason.
That book, I read it, is nothing but a 24-7 glorification of anal sex. It is to normalize sodomy in young women. The Leftists are trying to destroy Christian Ethics and need to to destroy Natural Law Theory-—Laws of Nature, Logic and Reason in future mothers so they will be incapable of raising emotionally healthy children.
That way they can ‘flip good and evil” and normalize ‘Vice is Virtue’ and make total slaves of the masses, albeit, “happy” slaves—too busy with sexual orgies to be angry about their slavic life.
By the time they figure out the fraud and deception of such a vile life—it will be too late and they will not have family or loyal relationships, so they can effectively fight the State.
That is messed up. So basically some piece of obscene erotica that could be found on some crappy website somewhere made it into “mainstream”??

It’s a huge trend in publishing right now to rewrite someone else’s work and pass it off as your own.
Cassandra Clare has made tons of cash writing Harry Potter fanfiction series (City of Bones/Mortal Instruments). They even made a movie out of the first book. Now there’s some typist (can’t call her a writer) whose signed a huge book deal with Simon and Schuster writing fan fiction about some British Boy Band, One Direction. So far her story has been viewed HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of times on Wattpad.
It’s a sad, sad world out there in the publishing industry today.

No, no no! Do not insult trashy dime store novels that were based on original ideas by literate authors and then edited by legitimate professionals at publishing houses. Harlequin Books(which was recently purchased by Rupert Murdoch's Newscorp) produces trashy, dime store novels. I admit to enjoying those in the past and I still reread the oldies.
Fifty shades is awful, modern dreck; it's fanfiction, self-published, poorly edited and replete with ridiculous non-erotic "erotic" sex, there's no denying that! But it is MILD compared to the true "Mommy Porn" out there.
I recommend people view the site Goodreads.com to get an idea of what is popular in the romance industry and what is getting the mommy's hot. New Adult torture-porn, extreme BD/SM, menage romances, multiple partners (like 10 brothers sharing one woman, but oddly not the reverse), gay romances (oh boy, do the ladies love that!), shapeshifting bestiality and incest...and more!
Like I said, I admit I am a reader of older, trashy romances; I don't deny that. But those books written thirty to twenty years ago had plots and decent writing. When I started rereading romance a few years ago, I was horrified by how much the genre had changed.
Years ago, the television soap opera introduced issues like abortion, birth control, divorce, and homosexuality to homes and families. Daytime tv broached topics nighttime never dared and women loved them! Now that so many women work outside the home, and the soap opera is a dying medium, these books have taken up the slack in brainwashing.
