Sounds exactly like the feminist ideal: a woman who needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle. On her own, independent, unburdened, I am woman, hear me roar. Except that she’s not very happy.
In fact, a comprehensive analysis of the trends in subjective well-being across several decades revealed similar findings regarding female happiness. In The Paradox of Declining Female Happiness published by the American Economic Journal, researchers Betsy Stevenson and Justin Wolfers found that although women's life circumstances by most objective measures have improved greatly over the past few decades, women's happiness has declined both absolutely and relatively to men.
Dr. Carter’s further explorations of this “paradox” deals with married women, who suffer the burdens of unequal cooking, etc. For example:
56 percent of working women assume responsibility for cooking compared to only 29 percent of working men, and 62 percent take care of the laundry compared to only 31 percent of men.

In spite of the obvious attempt to change the subject to married women who have to do more household chores than their lousy husbands, the study dealt with UNMARRIED women who are unhappy.
If they are unhappy now, just with until they get old and sick.
Did the doctor also compare the percentage of husbands that do yardwork vs the wives. Or the percentages that do repairs around the house?
“According to a survey reported in a Psychology Today article, the unhappiest workers are:Female
42 years old
Unmarried
Have a household income under $100,000
Work in a professional position (i.e., as a doctor or a lawyer)”
They left out liberal, politically correct with feminist consciousness.
The most miserable people I have ever met are female lawyers or government employees over 40 and single.
There are a lot of them in the DC area.
They hate their jobs, they hate their lives and they hate almost everyone they come in contact with.
Will they compare husbands vs. wives on:
Yard work,
home repairs,
car care & repairs,
pet care,
recreation equipment maintenance,
obtaining and managing home services,
etc.
? hmmm ?
The man will protect his family, and die doing so, if needs be. The man works harder and takes more risks.
Cut him some slack if he doesn’t vacuum or cook.
Have you got their numbers?
I would bet that while they were in their mid 20’s there were some nice hard working guys around that wanted to marry them but the women said no.
“They hate their jobs, they hate their lives and they hate almost everyone they come in contact with.”
In the PC San Francisco bay area (where I reside), throw in “lesbian” and you have some of the most unpleasant and bitter people I have ever met.
The local “women for women” Craigslist ads are both incredibly sad but enlightening at the same time. Kinda ironic how “gay” and “happy” have ended up with opposite meanings...
No, the doctor did not do comparisons about which person does tasks around the house which husbands normally do.
This is a classic case of someone using very selective criteria to draw judgements about how men are not doing enough around the house.
It’s crazy how homosexuals co-opted the word “gay”.
The word gay is no longer ever used based on its dictionary definition. It’s not even a word with a double meaning. Nowadays, gay means only homosexual.
My aunt married a man who’s last name was Gay. they are both gone now but I have a cousin named Gay. I have often wondered, as I have seen the definition of this word change, if he would change his last name to something more manly.
Unequal cooking?
What about unequal lawn mowing, hedge trimming, gutter cleaning, oil changing, trash taking and house painting? And this husband cooks, cleans AND does laundry, mostly because i Want to help my working wife.
We have a deal. She takes care of things inside, I take the outside and we’re both very happy with that.
Still laughing at Rush Limbaugh who cited a study that said the more a person has sex, the smarter they are. Rush answered “Well, that should make prostitutes the smartest people in the world. Let’s go ask a few and find out.”
Well thats queer.
“Its crazy how homosexuals co-opted the word gay.”
If you’re not a member of that protected minority, you’ll have Wanda Sykes in your grill dealing out the personal insults, followed by her order to “knock it off!”
Remember this PSA to counteract using “gay” as a adjective?

It’s chilling how we allow small minorities to exercise such power over the majority. We do it in the name of compassion, but unrestrained power ultimately leads to fascism. All for a good cause, of course.
I take care of things if they're: 1) outside (yard, etc) 2) heavy (vaccuming, moving furniture, etc) 3) lousy (ie, climbing around on the roof or under the house)
Mrs WBill takes care of laundry, dishes and "routine" housework. We split the cooking and kid maintenance. And, of course there are exceptions. But in the end, it works out to about 50-50.
I think that's about par for the course in most households that I've seen - again, with exceptions.
But, of course you're right....'tisn't PC to talk about what men *do*....only what they don't do.
My wife has never once cut the grass, changed the oil in the cars, and couldn't tell a socket from a screwdriver. Did they figure that in the percentages?
hard working guys around that wanted to marry them but the women said no were too self-absorbed in pursuing their own interests, or were wishing that straight men could be more like their gay friends, or just couldn't be bothered.
That's just what I saw. YMMV. :-) And, for what it's worth, my wife's old college friends are all now in their 40's, unmarried, and desperately unhappy. I'm glad that she's spending more time with the folks in our church. Far better class of people.
The road which turns off the main highway before heading up the mountain toward our house is named “Gay Road”.
It is named for a small community that used to be there and was named “Gay”. Absolutely NOTHING to do with homosexuals.
Liberals destroying the language, again. If they cannot co-opt a word then they outlaw it.
Next thing you know some Federal judge or the USPTO will outlaw “Redneck” and “honkey”. Then what shall I call myself?
:-)
