Wow. A reputable poll shows that the public believes Barack Obama is the worst president since World War II. Worse than Richard M. Nixon, driven from the presidency by Watergate? Much. Worse than Jimmy Carter, for decades the very symbol of the feckless chief executive? Loads. Worse than George W. Bush, still a lightning rod on the left and a symbol of disappointment on the right? Definitely.
These startling poll results set loose the predictable reaction: A flurry of told-you-so nods on the right and a fusillade of this-tells-us-nothing assertions on the left. For once, they're both right.
Obama is in trouble, no matter how carefully you peel through the Quinnipiac University poll that is causing such a firestorm. There's almost no good news there, or anywhere else, for the president. Then again, this worst-president poll sheds little light. Almost every veteran observer of polls and presidents will likely attest to that.
First, the trouble.

Carter is probably jealous of Obama and considers Obama’s presidency a huge success and probably thinks “if only I had been as anti-American then as Obama is now...”
Spot on.
Pledging one's life, entire fortune, and sacred honor is no mean feat. No one changes from a point of relative comfort.
You are exactly right. Then Carter tried to do an ex-president rehabilitation with his volunteer projects like Habitat for Humanity...and it worked for awhile. But then he started off on his “visit every American hating despot” tour, like visits to North Korea, even during the Klinton years. Then came the hate Bush speeches even when Dubya invited him back to the WH. He is a venal, hate America, angry man.
That’s an interesting take, and you may well be right about it. Carter is probably envious and regretful that he wasn’t able to transform America to the extent that Obama has.
Chicago-Southside Residents Go Off on Obama over Amnesty: Worst President Ever Elected
Yup. I made a mistake earlier in this thread saying Carter doesn’t hate America. I was thinking of Carter as president when he was basically well-meaning but very stupid, very misquided and very much out of his depth. These days he’s a much worse person than he was then. Carter is a text-book example of how liberalism degenerates the human personality.
According to the article’s author:
The bad news for obama: by a wide margin poll respondents say he sucks.
The good news: twenty years from now he will be thought better of. The author puts a LOT of effort into making this point.
There is no equivalence in these two items at all. I couldn’t care less what America’s opinion of him will be in twenty years. He is evil today.
Harry Reid is an even better one. Before he became Democrat Party leader in the senate, his voting record was fairly moderate, a little to the left of Zell Miller, if anybody remembers who he is.
