Eddie Murphy's headed back to Detroit in the upcoming fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise. According to the Associated Press, the state of Michigan approved $13.5 million in film incentives, based on an estimated $56.6 million of filmmaker spending in the state. The film will be shot in and around Detroit, creating jobs for an estimated 352 workers, the Michigan Film Office announced on Thursday.
Beverly Hills Cop 4 the first in the series since 1994 will find Murphy reprising his role as police detective Axel Foley. Describing the plot, the film office says the character leaves his position in Beverly Hills "during the coldest winter on record to navigate the new rules and old enemies in one of America's most tenacious cities."
The film will be directed by Brett Ratner (who worked with Murphy on 2011's Tower Heist) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (who produced the original 1984 Beverly Hills Cop), based on a script co-written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol). A tentative release date is set for March 2016. (No word yet on whether the classic theme song is being revived.)

I love Eddie Murphy....but the guy is 60....
I watched Eddie Murphy Raw a few weeks ago. Hilarious. Unfortunately, comedy like that probably would get blasted these days by the “feelings” crowd and the social justice warriors.
Detroit?
Sure it isn’t a MAD MAX remake?
Is there anybody left in Detroit to be used as extras?

Well he’d better hurry before the whole place is bulldozed. And 60? Well isn’t Arnie and Sly over 60 and they seem to be doing pretty good shoot-em ups.
IIRC, Raw got him kindasorta blacklisted once the PC crowd got power. I remember reading that his prior performance in that closed many doors.
Coincides with his fall from grace pretty closely.

“... one of America’s most tenacious cities.”
What the heck does that mean? Does this copy writer speak English?
Is Eddie Murphy broke?
Well, it’s about time. Eddie is only marginally funny making “family” movies. His character in “Tower Heist” was actually one of the best parts of a mediocre movie, and that was because he was playing a bit of a shady character, like his trademark roles in the old days.
I guess now his kids are all grown up so he can start dropping “f” bombs again instead of relying on fat jokes and funny faces.
Axel F is the name of that tune. I think every kid who got a Casio keyboard in the 80s learned to play that riff :)
Ummm.....wasn’t the premise for these movies that he was a policeman from Detroit on a case in Beverly Hills?
If they’re filming it in Detroit, shouldn’t they call it Detroit Policeman Not In Beverly Hills But In Detroit 4?
Ohhhhhhhh...
The Democrats are in trouble in Detroit. I see.
When oil companies deduct business expenses, lefties scream and call them "subsidies". In truth, the above " incentives" for moviemaking are exactly what tax subsidies are.

Be sure to crank up the volume on your speakers.
Ping. This farce of a sequel will be no match for Sharknado 2!
Those BHCop movies were hilarious, especially to a kid like me who grew up in Detroit, tho long before the 80s. The tune is cool too.
That, and these two hits...
