SOMERVILLE (CBS) A Somerville teacher has been arrested and charged with raping a 13-year-old child.
Alexandra Romanos, 41, of Stoneham, was arraigned Wednesday on two counts of aggravated rape of a child, and three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
According to the DAs office, a parent tipped off the school department last month about the teachers alleged relationship with a 13-year-old, which had been ongoing since March and had occurred both on and off school grounds.
Romanos taught 5th graders at the East Somerville Community School, and has worked there for seven years.
A judge ordered Romanos held on $50,000 bail, according to the DAs office. If she does post bail, she is prohibited from having contact with the victim or the victims family and cannot have unsupervised contact with children under 16. She must also stay away from Somerville schools, wear a GPS monitor and remain under house arrest.

At this rate pretty soon men won’t be able to claim to have the market on sexual deviancy cornered.
No information on the evidence, if any.
If this is true, she needs to be in prison.
Totally agree - they take God out of the school and then can’t figure out what happened
13....unreal. She will do prison time, then again, it’s Massachusetts.
“She was born with this disease.”
A 230 grain cupro-lead injection at the base of the skull is the cure. 900 fps usually does it.
Jury is still out. 9-3 in favor of “NOT GUILTY”.
I don’t understand why women teachers wanting to do this type of thing has become so prevalent.
I don’t think it was underreported in the past...I think it a new phenomena.
I went to Catholic schools where the nuns were tossing against blackboards.
I find it difficult to call this abuse.
Criminal yes, abuse no.
My knuckles still remember the discipline of that long wooden ruler smacking down on them. I think I was busy talking about what I was having for lunch, when BAM!
According to the John Jay Report, the rate of sexual abuse among government school teachers is 5-10%, ministers 2-3%, and priests 1-2%.
