Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Very similar.
Both feal exactly the same when they bite back. :)
Just been playing with a new (free) Aplication on this ‘ere ipug.
We hit 28 degrees to day so i thought let’s have a look at how ‘Face and TC are getting on.......no contest. Gasp.
It’s only 89 F, right now, with overcast skies, and humidity of 32%. While that might not seem much when one lives on a large island, in the middle of the desert, that is enough to make us all be grateful for A/C!
And yes, there is a breeze, and I will venture out in a bit, when I think the mail person has come. I’ve done my work for the day, so all I have to do is unlax, as my brothers used to say.
Tomorrow, the thrift store is sending a truck to pick up the latest in donations, and little by little, I’m finding my patio again! YAY!
89F = 32C — WHOA!
The site i’ve got for your approximate area is at 92 and 34%.
Not bad for a wild guess. :)
There is little more satisfying than piles of garbage that have been getting under your feet being given its marching orders.
And they collect....result!
I live about 15 SE of Vegas, and we are a little higher here, so we are a little cooler.
The stuff that is being donated, for the most part, has been in storage for four years. I just needed to weed out and decide what to keep (a little) and what to give away (a lot.) I had very little to throw out because I don’t buy junky things.
lol
Is that up-wind or down-wind from Searchlight... ;-)
Methinks that any who have had occasion to work on electrified equipment - even that deemed 'dead' - have one or more plasmafied tools. They get quietly camouflaged in the tool bag and rendered invisible at the earliest convenience...
But my best act at zapification didn't melt any tools. It did however cause something like 47 pcb's populated with TTL to release the magic blue smoke. Simultaneously. AFTER which, the fuse cleared.
It took some creative writing on the trouble report to, um, properly explain the occurrence.
..and probably caused quality control to commit suicide after trying to explain such a massive failure of an entire rack of new boards that they had, um, tested... ;-)
Had to look that one up.
Searchlight is 90 miles south of us...we can tell when the wind shifts... ;o]
Searchlight? That’s where Harry Reid is from.
*GAH!*
Hint to anyone who doesn't get it: if downwind, it will always smell like donkey crap.
“Donkey Cr*p”
Nice.
Goes well with the Strawberries , more Tea anyone?
He’s got his fingers in several pies in Utah, now. The greedy POS.
I’ll be glad when he sits down and shuts up. He’s been quiet for a while, so I’m wondering what he’s cooking up this time.
Just had some tea, thanks, Moosie!
I take it while I’m in the house so it isn’t contaminated in case the wind shifts to the SE quadrant.
What he’s cooking up....Donkey cr*p pie by the sound of it.
It is good to know where his philosophy in life come from, a town in which you grow up breathing Donkey Cr*p.
:D *Grin*
He IS the Donkey Cr*p!
And on that thought (I know - poor segue ;-) Mrs NoC has informed me that I am going to the local supermarket-type place and procuring one of their rotisserie yardbirds. Because she doesn't feel like cooking. Oh, and I need to get a loaf of bread. And whatever else she thinks of before I make it out the door. ;-)
Get enough for me! I love the rotisseried yardbirds with a loaf of French bread and a bottle of wine...
Oh. Wait. Wrong poem.
As you were.
