Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

For your pocket knife destruction pleasure:
I’ve turned the front end of leather man longnosed combination tool into plasma.
Clue: lots of very large lead acids in a long bank.
Had been told the charging leads where disconnected at the battery end...
tiz funny now, “bright light!” LoL.
Still hate any form of unnecessary cable clamping or tieing to this day.
The cutters at the back of the jaw survived, still use them.
Ummm errrrr, retire safe distance.
Check through field glasses, make sure he’s not following us....
Wow. What a thing to wake up to! Intelligent car conversations and everything!
We just had a good 15 minute rain, no thunder, but rain predicted for the entire morning. Lots of accidents on the freeway already, and the commute hasn’t really gotten started.
I don’t know how to save all the destructions about the fuel tank, but I will run between the raindrops this morning and pull back the mats in the cargo bay and see if there is a flange for the fuel pump.
Not that it will help me. BUT. I’m leaning towards going to the same place that fixed it in March so I could get the truck smogged. They did a good job and are within walking distance. I want to go there and talk to them face to face but I don’t want to do it alone. I’m just not eager to argue.
So, all that’s left, I guess, is rounding up the rest of the money for the labor.
Thats cute.
Morning TC.
Another hot sunny day in blighty. :)
My most impressive bit of arcery involved a piece of equipment that had had four different sources of power feeding it.
I had forgotten about the control voltages that came down from the office level. I survived. My tool, like yours, bore the mark.
Never told anybody, for some reason.
Airplane mode on an ipad means that a small picture of an a/c is displayed in the top left corner of the screen, nothing more.
Morning. Happy Trash Day!
It’s only in the 80s right now, but we’re expecting mid-90s later, 80% chance of rain. If the Inert Lawn Service had any sense, he’d mow this morning, because it’s going to be really difficult by Friday if it rains today.
Possibility of Inert’s doing this is effectively zero.
Sharpens up the old working practices, eh?
Glad I was wearing gloves, the heat was intense. Oops
Better than a second cup of coffee, actually.
Hint may work:
We need to buy a Cow...
Can’t see the Rabbits for the grass...
Make hay whilst the Sun shines. ...
Glad that aint Bamboo, the creaking would be deafening. ...

Famous words before the release of the magic blue smoke:
“Okay kid, turn it back on.”
Next thing heard: *SNAP bang POPCrackle*
You succeeded in taking a 60 degree razor edge and turning it into a blunt flat edge.
How, I do not know.
Set up your Lansky sharpener, I may be able to resurrect that edge eventually.
How much metal are you willing to part with?
!!!
Slasher fiction for that one!
LOL!
LoL...
You too have seen the sacred Magic smoke used in the art of Elastictrickery!
You have email...
Is that the same as Elastical Trickery?
I see the email. I’ll look at it as soon as I’ve had lunch - just came back from being out all morning with Pat and Kathleen.
I’m in no hurry. I’ve done all the work I had on the list for today, and just have a phone call to make for pick-up of the results of the last episode of sorting frenzy, and then I think I’ll lie down with a good book.
