Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Good move to always take a sniff. I smell bad so please don't sniff me at this time. Besides I'm not a cantaloupe, just an interloper.... LOL. Will shower soon though.

Sometimes the canteloupes look pretty, but they smell like rocks. No point in buying them.

The late Igor tried to tell me how to find a ripe cantaloupe at the store or roadside stand. He had no idea we had a row of cantaloupe in our garden every year, and right along with tomatoes, we smelled them before we picked them. We only had bib lettuce, but I knew enough to smell the iceberg lettuce head before I bought it. If it smells bitter, that’s how it will taste.

“Smile and nod,” as I tell the know-it-all children when they have to associate with non-family personnel. I used to pay Anoreth to smile and nod in high risk situations!

Had lunch with some of my prayer group, then I was on the phone with USAA for a couple of hours setting up an new investment account that OldTax-lady said I need. They were all very pleasant, but I kept having to shoo byos outside.

Then we went over to Joann’s and she notarized a form Sally needs to leave the country with the mission group. Now DP and Bill are going to the gym.

The phone, oddly enough, was in the bedroom and I was out here. Why I left it in there, I have no clue. Maybe I dissed it after my noisy portable nebulizer treatment. One can’t watch TV with the nebulizer going as it drowns out the sound track, so I just go in the bedroom and work crosswords or some such.

I started to walk with Busdaddy this morning but had to come back. I didn’t take any ibuprofen before I left and my knees were not behaving.

When he gets back we will go to Walmart to do his mini-grocery shopping for his mini-meals. And I have laundry going; I would like to stay another day, but if the fuel pump is delivered today, I need to contact “Unclelettuce” to see if he can put it in before Wednesday.

Busdaddy is leaving Thursday for CO to visit his son, and if I have The Little Redhead, I want to be able to drive something other than a tank. I know she loves to go places.

I’m supposed to house-sit while he is gone, and that’s OK. There is plenty of room for the little redhead to run around and get tired here.

I’m back from the gym. You and the Redhead would probably be more comfortable there than in your apartment. Kids need space!

I need to go to Walmart, too; make sure they have enough diapers and stuff for the weekend.
