Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Wooden comet?
So that’s where our cue ball went.
Yup.
“Thwarted” also applies.
That would be, then, a dust devil. Air pressure can do a lot of things.
It can operate your Galileo barometer, or it can move rivers through the air.
On Venus, it operates a Mega-Mississippi and a Mega-Amazon on a perpetual cycle, twenty-four seven, on a world where a day lasts longer than a year. You can put all the people of this world on that world, on rafts along those rivers, and still have room for forests, but every square foot of surface to stand on will have to be knitted out of air.
And even if you did, the air pressure on Venus wouldn't drop a gasp of bubbly.
(That's what you get when you let a poet dream up your science fiction scenarios for you.)
I'm thinking that if it's documented, it's way ahead of what's crossing the Rio Grande...
Or the occupant of the White Hut for that matter.
I think you’re too young to recall the expression, “Don’t take any wooden nickels.”
I have heard of it.
But it was “plug nickel” by my time.
You could tell it was a plug nickel due to the image of Joe Biden charred into its surface..
Actually, it was an image of a wooden Indian.
Obviously fake as he was wearing steampunk goggles with a top hat and a pirate eye patch.
A resounding silence fills the halls of the Undead this morning ...
While here in the Real World, two boys and one cat are up, as well as myself.
I know you didn’t want to hear, “Guess what day it is?”
It’s Wednesday. All the little personnel are moving slowly, if at all.
No, Bob, it wasn’t a dust devil. It clearly was attached to clouds, with the classic tornadic funnel. It hit the ground for about 30 seconds, and the national weather service says it WAS a tornado.
We have strange things here in the desert. Flash floods, earthquakes and the little cousins of tornadoes...dust devils, but we DO get the occasional tornado. Youtube.com has quite a few photos of tornadoes going back several years, in various parts of the state.
We had a small thunderstorm about 3:00 a.m. I got up and let Jake in.
I can relate to today’s kitteh....
With luck, I’ll get something done today, but I need to eat some Ibuprofen, first.
Maybe I can get rid of the various stacks of things that are awaiting disposition.
And now, Busdaddy is looking for another place to live.
Sounds like a full day. I’m about to cook some eggs for the young persons.
I understand Busdaddy’s feelings about his current abode, after the robbery, but moving is such a hassle. He could almost hire an armed guard for the cost of moving!
It’s supposed to dry out for the next few days, but for now, it’s 75 degrees and 42%. No breeze, for now. Maybe we’ll have actual sunshine today instead of cloud cover.
Three airmen from Nellis AFB saved a man and woman from their car that was being swept away in a flash flood, yesterday. Great guys!
"Keep moving, little people." -- (From a commercial)
The thing I don’t like about it is that I’ll be recruited to help. He doesn’t have much, but I’m not as young as I used to be, and the stamina just isn’t there any more.
While I understand his thinking, I believe it is a “fight or flight” response to the break-in, and I think he should wait a month or two.
With that big car hauler trailer box he has, he can almost move the entire house in one load. That’s not the issue...it’s the lifting and packing that concerns me.
If he insists on moving, he should hire movers. It’s completely unreasonable to expect you to it!
