Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Better a huffalump than the original Aloysius Snuffleupagus from Sesame Street. The original costumed character was nightmare-inducing and was changed significantly “for the children”.

Umm... I think that if you observe Walmartians for a sufficient time, you WILL find yourself a Snuffleupagus. Often accompanied by a bevy of heffalumps..

"I think that if you observe Walmartians for a sufficient time, you WILL find yourself a Snuffleupagus. Often accompanied by a bevy of heffalumps.." I've often envisioned the possibility that if we all headed for Walmart at the same time, we would stand a good chance of finding each other.

“You hear the Morning Alarm? :)”
Snooze three times, at least. The best part is, my snooze timer is adjustable; it’s currently set for 24 minutes.

Not up for mornings. It’s unrelenting!
I know that the West Coast gets earthquakes, and the South gets hurricanes and tornadoes.
The north gets winter storms and really cold weather for months.
But morning breaks upon our shores every day! I’m about to have a nervous napdown.

"Have you considered Antarctica?" Why yes, of course. It needs a little fixing up, but, why not?
First, I'd put a big mirror up over the South Pole, arranging that the "photon pressure" of the arriving sunlight balances the pull of gravity at its design altitude. This aerostat would reflect sunlight onto Antarctica from directly above, and it would be a twenty-four hour boost in temperature.
After a few years, all that nasty ice would be gone, and we'd have a virgin land of perpetual sunlight to enjoy!
