Berkeley Requires Marijuana Dispensaries To Provide Free Weed For Low-Income Patients

The city of Berkeley will require medical marijuana dispensaries to give away two percent of the amount of cannabis they sell each year free to low-income patients. The City Council voted unanimously at Tuesday’s meeting to amend the city’s medical pot rules, which would also allow for a fourth dispensary in Berkeley.

Berzkeley at it again although I do not see why in the future the bureaucrats who run ObamaCare might not add medical marijuana to the list of required treatments that insurance companies must offer.

It won’t take long before “Free” means taxpayer subsidized. As it is, their paying customers will pick up the tab to begin with and then it will be shuffled off to the taxpayers.

Marijuana will follow the same path as contraceptives and abortions. What first was the freedom just to use will be then further twisted to say someone, whether taxpayer or business, has to provide it at no/low cost to the users.

I will bet you $100 at some level, it already is subsidized. Who runs the "dispensaries?" who owns the buildings? Who is organizing the "poor" to get free weed there? Look and you will see it is likely some activist group with grants from somewhere - and free money means its from the government.

I surprised why “medical” pot is not required to be paid for under Obamacare..it is prescribed by a “doctor” to cover a medical issue..in fact medicare and you local free clinic should logically be providing pot

Arrrrrrrgggghhhhhh! I’m so glad that I saw the writing on the wall and sold my house in Bezerkeley in 1968 and GOT OUT. Broke my heart. I thought I would live in Berkeley forever. 5 years later I sold my house in Piedmont (my temporary refuge) and GOT OUT to Texas. Haven’t looked back.

Last year I sold my mother’s house in CA, and I own only 3 tiny lots (worthless) in Santa Cruz. When I figure out what to do with them, all ties to my native state will be severed. Thank Heavens!
