Some of my most cherished Saturday morning memories are owed to this greatly talented man.
And of course, let's not forget Carl Stalling, who did the music for all those cartoons.
I used him to voice a commercial back in the sixties. He worked for union scale (therefore, he worked often).
After he finished his gig, we got to chatting about his career. He then asked if I had kids. Yes, boy 7 and girl 4 at the time. Would I like him to record a tape for them? Well, yes, I'd deeply appreciate it.
Then, he proceeded to do roughly 2 minutes of voices, telling a story and specifically involving my son and daughter.
A family treasure. And I don't doubt that there are hundreds of similar examples out there somewhere.
such a great talent!
I often wish I could have been a fly on the wall at their writer’s meetings or like wise at Jay Ward’s (Rocky and Bullwinkle). What comedic geniuses all out of their minds!
The Warner Brothers cartoons were the best ever made. Then liberal weenies started complaining those cartoons were too violent, racist, sexist, whatever. So now we have children’s cartoons that are bland, insipid and full of leftist ideology.
I think Cartoon Network still runs some of the old Warner Brothers cartoons. Haven’t looked for them in a while. Given the depressing news today, I should start watching.
Back when Letterman was an approximation of a human being.
Ever see the looney toons do Opera pieces?
