RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -- FIFA has banned Uruguay striker Luis Suarez from all football activities for four months for biting an opponent at the World Cup, ruling him out of the rest of the tournament and the start of the upcoming Premier League season.
The ban also covers Uruguay's next nine international games, which goes beyond the next four months and rules him out of next year's Copa America. FIFA also fined the Liverpool striker 100,000 Swiss francs ($112,000).

"I don't get mad, I get BITE-Y!"
During the suspension, he should fight Evander Holyfield.
IMHO, its not enough to be the most boring game on the planet. Now theyre literally trying to eat each other.

Well, you can’t argue that a little cannibalism here and there won’t add a little flair to the games.
I am kind of befuddled by this.
Three times? This is lifetime banning territory.
FIFA has blown this...
Or an eating contest? Either one would have huge global TV ratings.
Why? Because Evander's used to being bitten?

Much rather see Suarez fight Tyson.
They don't wear padding or helmets in Australian Rules Football, or Rugby, but you don't see any of those guys whinging and grimacing like they've just been shot every time someone comes within two inches of them.
Soccer sucks, for this reason, among others. I believe one of the reasons soccer has never really caught on in this country, is simply that Americans have very little tolerance for the poor sportsmanship represented by players who essentially cheat by pretending to be fouled. It also doesn't help that the games can be incredibly boring.
I think that in soccer, the ref should have video replay available, and should carry a small hammer with him. Any time a player goes down and rolls around in supposed agony, the ref should view video replays, and if he sees that the player was not actually contacted/hurt, he should get to whack that player (hard!) with the hammer, wherever said player is pretending to have pain.
That would end the phony foul stuff real quick.
Just look at that ridiculous show Mario Balotelli put on in the first half of the match against Uruguay. Rolling around on the ground, pretending to be hurt, for several minutes. Video clearly showed that there was absolutely NO contact with the other player. Pathetic. Ref should have been allowed to smack him in the back of the head with his little hammer.
Now THAT would be worth a pay-per-view hit to the ol' credit card.
how about a kick to the mouth and a cleat full of teeth?
I’d gladly take a red to do that to Suarez. Can’t stand the pig!
The pretending to be fouled theatrics are what really destroy the game. I love soccer, but refs continue to award this type of behavior and very rarely will they ever issue a red for “falling”. Only way you’re ever going to eliminate it is by sending the flying phonies off the pitch. It’ll never happen though....
It’s not just soccer. Watch an NFL game and see how the wide receivers whine and ask for penalty flags on every incomplete pass. I’ve seen soccer players booked for diving, I’ve never seen a wide receiver penalized for making the “nanky motion”.
FIFA should have banned Suarez until the start of the 2015-2016 European soccer season. Losing a full season’s salary from Liverpool F.C. (and likely all the endorsement money from sponsors) would make Suarez think twice about any more attempts at being “bad boy” on the pitch.
FIFA does not have authority to ban for life.
Maximum FIFA penalty is 24 game or 2 year suspension.
So Suarez did not get maximum.
But World Cup, Copa America, and the first games of qualification for Russia 2018 is significant.
Heh-heh-heh-heh.
Good one.
Personally I would have accepted shahria law in this case — allow his opponent to bite him back for good measure.
No, the most boring sport on the planet is baseball.
Baseball ALWAYS has a winner and a loser.
It’s not that aspect of it that you hate, I hope.
