This is the forst KDE version I installed (Live, of course) that gave me no problems with partitioning.. was able to set up: Boot Root Swap USR/LOG Opt CAR Var/log tmp and Home, with no LiveBoot Crashes..
abother hour to set things the way I like to set them (and uninstalling stuff I don't need.. replacing them too)..
All said... less than 2 1/2 hours to get my PC back to normal (compared to 2 weeks and many reboot on Win :p)..
I am starting to understand why many go to Cinnamon though.. simple stuff.. but I am very picky about what I am working with, and KDE gives that flexibility to me.
Thought you might like to see about this.

Oops. didn’t realize I checked the, “I have already previewed or do not wish to preview this composition.” box :/

BTW.. booting up 10x+ faster than previous installs
What are the hardware requirements?
Something I forgot to mention.. Seems they fixed the WiFi problem (Broad-com)..
I like Mint, but for me there’s been problems with a few releases. I’ve shifted over to Debian Testing (Jessie) for my linux machine, and I’m a little happier. YMMV, of course.
1. What is a good antivirus/security system?
2. If I buy Mint on a DVD that comes with one of those $18 magazines they sell at the bookstores in the UK and US, Can it install properly without erasing my files? Or should I save the files to another drive (or make another partition for just my files) format the drive, and install the new OS?
3. Or should I just sell the laptop before it becomes worthless?
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Finally.....some REVENGE!!!!!
GET MICROSOT WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see a someone understand partitioning. :-) I like Crunchbang, but Mint is nice as well.
Did you go with ext4 partitions or one of the other filesystems such as xfs or btrfs?
Thanks for posting. I’ve been waiting for the KDE version of Mint 17. I’m going to install it in a VM and test some stuff out. I’m thinking of trying to go with this as the “Easy” version for friends. The biggest problem with me switching from Fedora, is that from what I understand, there is no “Quanta” package, and I’ve been using that for years to do simple HTML editing.
So far, it's been fairly painless. I've been using XFCE for this previously, and will probably test out the Mint 17 XFCE desktop once it goes gold. It will be interesting seeing how well it works from a speed perspective, compared to a Fedora XFCE VM I've been using for a while.
God, I love having choices!
