Congratulations. I see you are very happy. I’m glad you found free slave labor with benefits. :)
—I knew when I didn’t have to kill him right away that he was right for you.—
That’s good. I don’t know if we could have raised enough $$$ to bail you out of jail.
Neato!!!! And, as long as he has been approved by the inspection committee, I’ll put the bag of cement back in the garage. (It’s too heavy to lug around, anyway.) (((Hugs))) to you and Bob!
Beautiful! Thanks for posting!
Mine once set up an audio reader for the visually impaired. Who knew?
Attracting your own bees seems to be the way to go. I think all the clover we have is luring bees (and deer!) our way. My uncle used to be a bee keeper. Farmers would beg him to bring hives to their farms for pollination. The uncle also made honey from his hives. It was very labor intensive and since he was a small operation, he never got enough money per jar to make up for the time and expense he had in it. He was a wonderful uncle ... funny, smart in a common sense way (didn’t finish high school), could build/do anything, and he had the kindest heart. The last thing he did before he died was deliver a shipment of queen bees to their new hives. Whenever I see honey bees, I can’t help but think of him. Although we’re seeing a lot of honey bees this year compared to almost none in years prior, the bumble bees are everywhere ..... and I’ll gladly take bumble bee help if they’re willing to do it and seeing the one in/out of the squash flower made my day!
It has come to our attention that this thread has devolved. I beg your pardon, greeneyes, and will try to get myself back into line.
The Gardening Thread has a long history of wandering off coarse into the many off topic interests of the FReepers who participate. I think it is great.
A heads-up to gardeners in Red Hampshire: my wife and I were told by an elected official in our RH town that "when you grow that many tomatoes (roughly 100), you have to expect that (a no-knock drug raid) to happen."
We did, and it did. Not sure about other areas of the country, but 'gardeners beware'.
I meant to post this at the beginning of the thread for maximum viewing, but forgot to do so. Maybe next week...
Congratulations Marcella. Will you be able to keep your
gardens when you live in Highland Village?
What’s so wrong with a person raising 100 tomatoe plants?
“Will you be able to keep your gardens when you live in Highland Village?”
I have more room there for a container garden or ground garden than I have here and it’s all enclosed away from public eyes. It really is a fine place to live.
My sense of direction is nothing, so I’m trying to watch how to get from the house to the grocery and to the bank there that is the same name bank I use here. I’m having culture shock.
I’m happy to hear you’ll still have your gardens. As for
finding your way around, hopefully your grocery store and
bank are not too far off. I know the feeling, turn me around three times and I’m lost.
Wow. Congratulations!
Nothing, so far as I know. Movers and shakers in this little community seem to think otherwise, though.
I actually have seed for nearly 400 varieties of tomatoes. We will grow those out when we get home to Tennessee.
We had been growing tomatoes, pepper, corn and other items on the same plot in a residential neighborhood for five years...no problem. Last November? No-knock SWAT raid. A neighbor (another town employee) with an ax to grind said we were growing 'something else' because he had seen 'grow lights' in the room next to the greenhouse. You know...lights for our VEGETABLE seedlings.
Next thing you know...SWAT!
This is just a fair warning to gardeners that there MAY be people out there that have an ax to grind or that may want to look like a champion of the people by doing things like this. My wife is diabetic, and the stress is just wonderful. (extreme sarcasm...she recently had to start an insulin protocol)
It sounds like you have grounds for litigation. Personally, I’d find out who that “neighbor” is and..........
“We sort of, kind of, appear to be engaged, maybe that marriage thingy.”
Is this gonna’ be a shotgun type “marriage thingy” with a lot of hootin’ and hollerin ‘an beer drinkin’ or are you all going to sneak off and elope? ;)
