It has nothing to do with anything except whether a woman knows the difference between right and wrong and has the capacity to put the needs of her children before her own. That being said, the husband needs to know the difference between right and wrong and put the needs of his wife and children before his own.
Pretty darn simple.

I note that you don't expect a wife to put her husband's needs before her own. Any particular reason for this expectation?

Yeah, it really ain’t rocket science. Who wants to spend their entire life with an woman who, although attractive, has a heart that is essentially self absorbed?
Okay, let me clarify. Appart from Laz, who would want this?
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain.
Nothing wrong with an attractive woman, but things get old really fast living with anybody who is self centered.

Maybe it sounds crazy, but what first attracted me to Mrs. Vigilanteman was that her three year old niece absolutely loved her. All she had to do was show up (no gifts, candy or the like) and the little girl ran to her. In fact, she seemed to love her more than she did her own mother.
Tiny tots are without guile and if their love for someone is genuine, they've usually earned it.
