The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services makes no effort to determine the immigration status of adult relatives when they show up to claim unaccompanied minor children who entered the U.S. illegally, a spokesman at the agency confirmed on Wednesday.
Tens of thousands of the under-18s – 'Unaccompanied Alien Children' (UACs) in government-speak – have poured across the U.S.-Mexico border in recent months, creating what President Barack Obama has termed an 'urgent humanitarian situation.'
HHS, which houses them until family members can be found, has begun releasing illegal immigrant children 'by the hundreds' into the custody of adults who are illegal immigrants themselves, an HHS official familiar with the situation on America's southern border told MailOnline late on Tuesday.
An official spokesman for HHS's Administration for Children and Families confirmed on Wednesday that the agency has no system in place to verify whether the adults are here legally.
Kenneth Wolfe told MailOnline on Wednesday that 'around 90 percent of the minors in the UAC program are released to verified sponsors (mostly family members) in the U.S.'
Asked if 'verified' means that the adults' immigration status has been checked, he responded, 'No.'
He also answered 'no' when asked if there is 'an effort made to ascertain the immigration status of the adults who claim the kids.'(continued)

Of course..that is the whole point, the more people here illegally it will allow Dems to have complete power forever..just keep the chain going, one generation of illegals, then the next, all Dem voters and future dem voters
Those wanting to claim a child must be a parent, relative, or at least look hispanic. Those who cannot write can just mark the claim form with an X.
Here is where States do have rights.
Child Protective Services can step in and severe parental rights of any parent in their jurisdiction.
States should do just that, in order to discourage this stuff.
I would think that sending kids out, in the weather, with no food or provisions, would constitute abuse.
And the Republicans do...nothing.
Unfortunately many of them are compromised by commitments they made in exchange for contributions from the open borders lobbies like the Chamber of Cronies.

Wait for it; five, seven years from now, you’ll see new One Act Plays, and Unauthorized Biographies written in spanish, then translated to english from some of these young arrivals. Some will say they were kept as sex slaves or forced to steal by their host relatives. Child labor laws will be violated. The lawyers will then have a new wave of victims to sue for, and they will be exploited once again. Their parents share some, if not all the blame for abdicated their role of being responsible for the welfare of their children. I’m surprised there are so many kids coming alone from far south of Mexico.
Good! Now that they’ve been reunited, send the whole family unit home and let their own government deal with them! To paraphrase Nazi Pelosi, they are not OUR “responsibility”.
The woman I saw on tv tonight said she hasn’t seen her kids in 8 years. That means she came here and left them in Guatemala when they were 7 and 2 years old.
Its a combo of both, but what the left care about more than anything right now is votes..and all those illegals you see are votes to them

I had a foster child whose parent used heroin while pregnant. Abuse, right?

Let me get this straight; the children are being released to people who's identity is unknown? This will not be followed up by social workers? How do they know they are not delivering these children into slavery or prostitution, since they have to pay for getting up north somehow.
We had one whose mother used crack. She abandoned him in a crack hose when it was raided. She was blue eyed blond American and his father was an illegal from Nicaragua. That baby lived with us for 2 years, from the time he was 6 weeks old until he was 2 years old, and yes the judge gave him back to his mother at the urging of The Association of Black and Hispanic Social Workers. He belonged in his own culture they said and opposed our wish to adopt him. The condemned him to a life of further abandonment and disruption, not what was best for him, but what best served their agenda.
Understood, however, the point is to make the Illegal PARENTS think twice about this “free pass” or “amnesty” gambit.
All we need is a good video clip, a news clip, of child protective services getting involved and it would have a great deterrent effect.
I don’t believe that - how could they even find the illegal relatives? Everybody knows they “live in the shadows”.
Maybe when they show up for their free cheese?
I’m not sure where you’re at, but I saw a similar thing play out in Louisiana a few years ago.
A loving, well-balanced couple looking to adopt. Two little girls about 3 and 5 found their mom dead from an overdose and were put into the system. After a year of checks by the state, the girls were about to be adopted by my friends.
At the last minute, some relative found out they could get state money to adopt the girls and found a friendly ‘family’ judge. The girls were tossed back into the squalor of trailer living, meth, heroine, and probably sexual abuse.
They’re still being prayed for, but no one knows where they’re at now.
Disgusting what happens to children in the name of political correctness. We’re damned if we don’t look out for the little ones.
I suppose that displays a different type of Family Values that what we would generally expect. Maybe one has to consider how bad the economy and gang warfare is in these Central American countries. But that still should not obigate us into taking a fresh dumping of over a million untrained, UNVACINNATED, illiterate people in the middle of a recession.
