Edge of Tomorrow isn't expected to be the box office smash its $178 million budget suggests Warner Bros. hoped it would be, but at least audiences can expect one of the best big-budget movies in theaters this summer.
Critics love Tom Cruise's latest action film, which blends science fiction elements with a premise borrowed from classic Bill Murray comedy Groundhog Day. Like Murray, Cruise plays a man who is forced to Live. Die. Repeat for what must feel like an eternity, except instead of picking up women and causing trouble in a sleepy Pennsylvania town most famous for a rodent, Cruise must team up with a female war hero (Emily Blunt) to figure out how to stop an alien race from wiping out humanity.

“Mom was not happy to see it go though... she got attached to things.”
When we sold the house, my Mom still had an old broken console-ish contraption (broken) in the basement; some dude gave $50 for it when we had a yard sale. Better than me having to haul it out (also not laminated veneer, but solid hardwood) and hope the garbage men took it.
One rabbit, 20 rabbits...ehhh...
“Belushi was at his best...”
I agree. Better than in “Blues Brothers”.
That stuff was back in the day when it HAD to look “good” as furniture as well as be functional. It lasted us a long time, served it’s purpose, and she got her money’s worth out of it.
All in all, it was a better time. Everything is so throw-away now.
We got used to having everything cheaper, faster, and not necessarily better.
Oh, and public thanks to Impy & GOPSter for helping to get my posting privileges partly restored (and anyone else who tried to get ahold of TPTB).
Try not to be so cryptic next time, GOPSter, in your Yahoo emails. I hadn’t the foggiest what you were going on about and thought you were having flashbacks to when you served under Nathan Bedford Forrest at Fort Pillow.
Amen, amen and amen.
The “old” days...
Now I can proudly say: “WELCOME BACK ! ! !” Your glib, off-the-cuff repartee was sorely missed...:)
Crack’s one helluva drug. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
...”They just seem like a cartoonish barrage,”....
Yes indeed! I recall when everyone was going nuts over the Avitar movie....I watched it on DVD at my sons, one of the first movies I actually fell asleep from. That was sooo cartoonish I couldn’t hardly stand watching it!
Welcome “home” brother...
Plays Master Chief? As a retired command Master Chief, who do I sue for this act of blasphemy??
Phoebe Cates=Schwing!
I like “the boy cut” sometimes.
Phoebe Cates in “Fast Times At Ridgemont High”.
Oh, YES!!!
I never heard The Cars’ “Moving In Stereo” in quite the same way after seeing Fast Times.
“Already done - Rod Serling.”

Man,they don’t have many like him anymore.
Gone too soon.
.
:)
Both had expiration date on their looks but Shields was much earlier than Cates was. I think Shields was a pretty kid but as she grew into her teen years she became more and more funny looking. Cates still looked good in early adult hood.
My favorite Cates movie scenes from:
Allah does not approve of these smutty images! Repent, infidel! ;p
I didn’t know she was married to Kevin Kline. Quit acting to raise their kids.
I remember both of those movies being out, but never saw them.
Nah, Master Chief from Halo who has a female companion (in Halo it’s an AI, in the movie it’s a human), both of whom die repeatedly until they figure out how to win.
What a fun movie!! Just saw it today.
