A Detroit-area man was so determined to get to Michigan from Arizona that he refused to stop and contact authorities after one of his passengers died, police said Wednesday.
The man, a 62-year-old Clinton Township resident, has not been charged and authorities were awaiting toxicology results from an autopsy performed on the body of the 31-year-old woman who died.

It’s not like her condition would get worse. For her anyway.
“If he didnt kill her, what law did he break?”
My sister in the OSI worked a case where the visiting family of an airman had the family patriarch die while there. (Texas, as I recall.) They went to where the body was and were not stopped or challenged. They had no idea they were doing anything wrong. They loaded the man into the back of a pickup and took him home to lay him out in the family parlor. But along the way they got into a wreck. Nobody was seriously hurt, but there was an extra body...which had been embalmed. Apparently it is illegal to transport a body. But I’ll wager this case was unique. (Timeframe late ‘60’s.)
Funny you should mention it, I’m moving to the near Detroit area tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Hank Williams?
At that point what difference did it make?
When I saw the headline I thought someone was driving around with Keith Richards.
You beat me to it and with a picture too.
I'll bet....the Detroit segments of "The First 48" are always extra-special...
So I guess you need some sort of funeral type license in TX to transport bodies.
Just tired of hanging around pansies, that’s all. And people who’ve never been to Detroit.
That’s how I want to go! Quietly and quickly on a nice road trip........... but not soon! :)

I think posterchild has it right. It’s a protect the union law. I know to transport a body costs lots, thousands. But if you just fold it over and UPS it...$94.88. (Don’t ask.)
Just in case, they filled out three Chicago absentee ballot requests.
Couldn’t have pulled it off before the Dems morto-voter law.
Here are the circumstances: These men were working in a ship yard during WWII building LST’s. They stayed in a “Man-Camp” during the week and drove home on Friday nights.
Poor guy didn’t make it. Just one of those stories that make up the family lore.
