Harrison Ford Asked To Reprise Role In ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

Alcon Entertainment has an offer out to Harrison Ford to reprise his role of Rick Deckard in its Ridley Scott-directed sequel to Blade Runner.

Original screenwriter Hampton Fancher and Michael Green are writing the new one, which takes place several decades after the conclusion of the 1982 original.

Alcon acquired Blade Runner‘s film, television and ancillary rights in 2011 from producer Bud Yorkin to produce prequels and sequels of the sci-fi cult classic. Yorkin will serve as a producer on the sequel along with Alcon’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will co-produce. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO’s of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers. Alcon actually sent a press release out that it offered the role to Ford (which is unusual in itself), but Ford gave an interview recently saying he was anxious to see the script. He has expressed interest in reprising the role in the past, but no deal is set as he has yet to read the script.

I just watched Iron Sky on Netflix.
It wasn’t what I remembered....
This time I was completely sober, that might of had something to do with it.
A Sarah Palin look alike was president.
Movie made a point to make fun of conservatives and Germans.
Surprisingly good CGI for a cheap budget movie though.....

I worry we’d end up with a black hole of a sequel filled with the likes of Channing Tatum, the nadir of leading men in today’s Hollyweird.

You hit the nail on the head. Just saw "Sergeant York" (again) over the weekend. Gary Cooper was a grown up, mature man.

I remember seeing “Krystle Suck” at the movies with the g/f. When it (mercifully) finished, we both turned to each other and said: “What did we just watch?”

Rubbish.

Stallone came back and ended both Rock and Rambo on high notes; those last two movies were some of the best of each of their respective series. Although “Expendables 2” sucked and I plan on skipping “Expendables 3”, at least at movie theater prices.

Like Hale said, there comes a point where 70 year olds need to hang it up.

Blade Runner: Ehhh. I find it to be overrated.

Aliens flicks (after “Aliens”): Ehhh.

Star Trek/New Khan: Bleh. Boring. Watch once and forget. I’ll sip the next ST too.

“Rocky V, much like Star Trek V: The Live Birth Abortion”

Truer words have never been spoken.

One of my favorite Rutger Hauer flicks is “Night Hawks”, with Stallone and Lando Calrissian. Rutger was a nasty bastard in it.

““He chose...Poorly...” Great line, and the Templar’s face when he said was priceless.”

Khent said “No, no it’s not.”

“Krystal Suck” was garbage, period.

“The Last Crusade” was the balls.

“The Dark Knight” and Heath Ledger as “The Joker”: VERY overrated.

It’s shame though that in the first one they deleted some scenes that would have added some development. The scene that shows Nero in a Klingon prison for 20 years (so you aren’t left to think he was just dicking around in space doing NOTHING while waiting for Spock to show up)

And a nice scene with Spock’s parents arguing. You know Sarek was tapping Winona Rider more often than every 7 years, but he wasn’t gonna get any that night!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8xKyaZl_Kc

Not giving Nero a rationale for hating Spock that much was inexcusable, it just came off like he was completely mental, or it rather it would have if he weren’t so wooden and boring, it’s not good when Emo Picard from Nemesis (or Fake Kahn for that matter) compares favorably as a villain. His only good moment was “Hi Christopher, I’m Nero.”

I’m pretty sure that scene with Heche cursing gave me wood the first time I saw it. I was like 15 so it wouldn’t take much. ;d

RE Rutger:

He’s just REALLY good at being the bad guy. Got a menacing look to him.

Makes me think of how quickly these actors seem to age. It seems like just yesterday Indian Jones was cracking the whip against the Nazis. Now I don’t know, I picture him as this old guy who keeps falling off this blade he’s supposed to be running on.

And Deckard was brought out of retirement in the first film. He'll probably be wheeled out of the home in the second one.

The only problem I had with the film was that they set it too soon in the future when it should’ve been at least a century away. I can’t imagine what sort of a story they’ll do with respect to a sequel.

This one takes place last year.

Disclaimer: I never read the book.

I did. The plot was pretty cut-and-dry: Deckard goes out and kills him some replicants, while adhering to some new, post-nuclear-war religion. There wasn't the anti-slavery moral tale woven into the plot, like there was in the movie.

“...Khent said “No, no it’s not.”...”

That’s ONLY cause Khent had a man-crush on the nazi guy....

Actually, I thought Ledger did a credible job as the psycho Joker.

Growing up, the ONLY Joker I remembered was Caesar Romero from the original Batman TV series - NOT a serious drama show by any strecth.

Nicholson played it well, but it was still campy and had a comic-book feel to it.

The Dark Knight entries were just - really kind of chilling, almost like a decent sci-fi flick.

The “Bane” character was excellent too - that movie captured the entire essence of the Occupy Wall Street mob mentality and it’s logical conclusion if they could get away with it.

My take, anyway.

Jack Nicholson IS The Joker, period. :). I think he’s still getting paid, BTW. It was in his contract from the movie he was in.

The Batman TV show was 1960’s campy. In a good way.

The last Batman flicks were good, I’m not arguing that. But they aren’t the Godsend that some think they are.

And Bane’s a poof - Khent spotted that immediately! Looks like you’re slipping, Hale.
