Harrison Ford Asked To Reprise Role In ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

Alcon Entertainment has an offer out to Harrison Ford to reprise his role of Rick Deckard in its Ridley Scott-directed sequel to Blade Runner.

Original screenwriter Hampton Fancher and Michael Green are writing the new one, which takes place several decades after the conclusion of the 1982 original.

Alcon acquired Blade Runner‘s film, television and ancillary rights in 2011 from producer Bud Yorkin to produce prequels and sequels of the sci-fi cult classic. Yorkin will serve as a producer on the sequel along with Alcon’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will co-produce. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO’s of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers. Alcon actually sent a press release out that it offered the role to Ford (which is unusual in itself), but Ford gave an interview recently saying he was anxious to see the script. He has expressed interest in reprising the role in the past, but no deal is set as he has yet to read the script.

“Not bad for an outdated skinjob.”

She had an extended period of hotness, but she was always as they say in the industry...difficult. I think that means crazy.

After the absolutely HORRIBLE Prometheus I now have ZERO faith in Ridley Scott making a decent Blade Runner sequel.
The guy should just retire.
EVERYTHING about Prometheus sucked.

“J.J.” is a complete HACK that ruined Star Trek and so what does Disney do they hire the exact same HACK to destroy Star Wars as well.

I often times feel like I woke up around 13 years ago in an alternate bizzaro universe and have been stuck here ever since.

I read somewhere that they are busy filming a remake of Logan’s Run as well.

Actually, there’s a run on white movies being redone in ‘blackface’. ‘About Last Night’ was one. Bombed.

Hollywood is out of bullets. No good liberal scripts left.

They need to remake Dune. Watch the Sci_Fi channel miniseries (Dune and Children of Dune). It's so much closer to the books.

Ditto. The chap who played the Baron in the miniseries, Ian McNeice, was much better than Kenneth McMillan from Lynch movie. Lynch's Baron was just too over the top. One gets to see James McAvoy as Leto Atreides II make his acting debut or close to it and can see what a great actor he would become.

Really? That would be interesting to see how they twist it.

In the original, when you turned 30, you were supposed to be terminated.

Wonder what they’ll do with the re-do?

It’s been a while since I read that news but from what I remember the producers are going to lower the age to participate in the ritual of Carrousel to 20 yrs old or something like that and with a much younger cast.

Like these new ST and SW movies along with Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and JJ Abrams I have ZERO faith it will be any good.
Anybody here remember the Total Recall remake from a few years ago?
I didn’t think so.
Ugh

When they remade “The Manchurian Candidate” and changed who the enemy was, that was a good indication of where Hollywood’s loyalties are.

Man Dolph should’ve got the Oscar for that scene cuz not only was it well acted he also did a perfect impersonation of Rutger Hauer at the same time!

Thank you for letting me know that I am not alone. I actually hated that movie. I believe it was my first experience with “dark” movies. Not “dark” as in plot lines; but, “dark” as in, “why can’t they turn up the lights a little so I can see what is happening on the screen?”. Everything was so dark that I couldn’t see clearly what the people were doing in the movie. It was frustrating.

Alien and Blade Runner were the best sci-fi films from that era and still at the top of my list. Alien had the best sci-fi monsters which we are missing these days. Generalizing but sci-fi film are tame and lame these days. Feminized.

We need some nazi zombie monsters from outer space that we (humanity) have to go to war with. Make their commander a Joe Stalin looking monster.

The first one, Iron Sky, If I remember correctly was pretty entertaining.
Don’t take my word for it though lol.

Reception Nazis at the Center of the Earth

Critical and audience reaction to the film has been mixed with everything from “absolute garbage” to “the Citizen Kane of Asylum films”.[3]

This wasn’t even direct to DVD. It was direct to torrent sites

The best sci-fi comedy for me was Galaxy Quest

>> “...Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was the PERFECT way to end the TRILOGY and they should have let it rest in peace....” I actually thought it WAS the last movie to be made, hence the play on words in the title. <<

That certainly was the intention at the time (1989), and as far as I'm concerned it IS the final REAL Indiana Jones film.

A bunch of people were excited when announced they were doing a belated follow-up to the 80s classic 20 years later, whereas my gut feeling was "uh oh, this doesn't sound like a good idea..." I didn't watch the 2008 movie in theaters or on DVD because I didn't want to sully my memories of the originals, and its just wrong to have a 70 year old Indiana Jones fighting communists in the late 1950s. The whole point of the franchise is that Indy is a world war II era adventurer who goes up against NAZIs.

Now even Spielberg has admitted it was a mistake to make that movie:

http://www.unleashthefanboy.com/movies/spielberg-finally-admits-it-kingdom-of-the-crystal-skull-sucks/357

You hear from dopes on the internet all the time how it was wrong to "judge" Heath Ledger as the Joker before the movie was released, so where are these same fanboys to admit they shouldn't have bought into the Indiana Jones 4 hype before the movie was released?

It’s a deeply flawed movie that looks great on the screen; I have no idea how big an ego one has to have to think that the PK Dick original was only good for some character names and the vague references to deteriorating conditions on Earth.

It is true though, that Hauer did ad lib that line during a table read, and peeked over the top of the script, and they decided to use it. :’) The BluRay edition with all the various versions of the film also has loads of extras.
