TOP TEN PRESIDENTS ACCORDING TO WATCHMOJO.COM

Posted on 05/27/2014 8:15:45 AM PDT by 7thson

There is an internet site called WatchMojo.com. It has numerous top ten videos - top 10 Queen songs, top 10 nominated actors who never won an oscar , top ten Marvel movies, etc. I like going there to see various top 10 lists and such.

Yesterday while browsing through it, they had a Top 10 U.S. Presidents. I watched it to see if I would be disappointed and to no surprise, I was. Why?

Two things. One - President Reagan was not in their top 10. They had one term James Polk in there - #8 I believe - but no Reagan. The top 3 were #1 Lincoln, #2 FDR, #3 Washington. Second thing - when talking about FDR, they repeat the propaganda that FDR's government intervention and policies ended the Great Depression.

I may still go there from time to time, but it is disheartening to see the statists take over everything.

Last year, there was a poll of the American people ranking the Presidents. Reagan was Number One - as WF Buckley once said, “I would rather be ruled by the first one hundred names in the Boston phone book than by the Harvard faculty.”

Why was Lincoln #1?

Because he waged war to prevent free men from leaving a Union they voluntarily joined?

All FDR basically did was continue the policies already initiated by Hoover.

FDR was the most overrated president ever. His policies prolonged, not shortened the great depression. Even his much praised leadership in World War II did, in the end, do little but turn Russia from a backwater minor power into a Superpower.

The rehabilitation of Japan, for instance, was due almost entirely to MacArthur's leadership and the resiliency of the Japanese people and had nothing to do with FDR and his successors other than getting out of the way long enough so MacArthur could accomplish what he did.

Actually, he out-Hoovered Hoover by a magnitude of 10 or more.

And Hitler, by basically leaving every industrialized nation, other than the US, completely destroyed. The US was the only industrialized nation standing after the war.

From what I remember on the subject the depression ended because the New Deal had run its course with regards to money being spent and courts overturning FDR’s “laws” before WWII broke out.

George Washington should always be ranked #1 out of respect and by default. There is no question he was the greatest president bar none.

FDR
Did they give their reasons why?

As you can probably guess, the narrator cited the New Deal and WWII.

When I tell people that they look at me like I just landed from another planet. What is it about the 10th amendment that is so difficult for people to understand?

The federal governments powers are listed to those 17 things listed in the Constitution.
