The Maine Secession Movement is now actively inviting Born Again Christians to move to Maine from other states.
As the secession vote on June 12, 2018 moves ever closer, the Maine secession Movement is now actively encouraging Born Again Christian families in other states to put their property and business up for sale and move to Maine. This is being done in advance of the next release of the proposed Constitution for the Republic of Maine which will take effect immediately upon a successful vote for secession on June 12, 2018. This next release will include a section detailing how the entire border of Maine with both Canada and the United States, must be secured by Militia members and their families, resulting in nearly every square foot of land on the border being deeded over to members of the Militia who will live on the border, these parcels will range in size between 500 acres and 1500 areas.
A second reason is that we believe that as more and more, who will vote for secession, will move into Maine while more and more, who oppose secession, will start selling out and moving to other states where big government will remain. As an example, since education is reserved to the family first and then the local community with the State and the Counties explicitly denied any roll in education, we would expect that many NEA members will leave, all of the MEA staff will have no roll and will need to either leave or find gainful emplyment. Since welfare is non existent and is explicitly denied to any and all governments, but reserved to the churches and societies, we can think of no reason anyone currently on welfare will want to stay in Maine nor will there be any state positions for anyone now working in any of the welfare offices or bureaus.
To help Born Again Christians make their decision, below is the parts of the proposed Constitution that are now done. For additional information or help in locating property in Maine, please email freemaine at hushmail.com with "relocation" in the subject line.
PREAMBLE. We the people of the Republic of Maine, in order to establish justice, insure tranquility, provide for our mutual defense, promote our common welfare, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of liberty, acknowledging with grateful hearts the goodness of the Sovereign Ruler of the Universe in affording us an opportunity, so favorable to the design; and, imploring God's aid and direction in its accomplishment, do this twelfth day of June, in the year of our Lord 2018, by majority of the people voting do agree to form ourselves from henceforth into a free and independent Christian Nation, by the style and title of the Republic of Maine and do ordain and establish the following Constitution for the government of the same.
Article I. Declaration of Rights.
Section 1. Natural rights. All people are born equally free and independent, and have certain natural, inherent and unalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing and protecting property, and of pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness.
Section 2. Power inherent in people. All power is inherent in the people; all free governments are founded in their authority and instituted for their benefit; they have therefore an unalienable and indefeasible right to institute government, and to alter, reform, or totally change the same, when their safety and happiness require it.
Section 3. Religious freedom; all Christian sects are equal; religious tests prohibited; religious teachers. All individuals have a natural and unalienable right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own consciences, and no person shall be hurt, molested or restrained in that person's liberty or estate for worshiping God in the manner and season most agreeable to the dictates of that person's own conscience, nor for that person's religious professions or sentiments, provided that, that person does not disturb the public peace, nor obstruct others in their religious worship; all persons demeaning themselves peaceably, as good members of the State, shall be equally under the protection of the laws, and no subordination nor preference of any one Christian sect or Christian denomination to another shall ever be established by law, nor shall any religious test be required as a qualification for any office or trust, under this State; and all religious societies in this State, whether incorporated or unincorporated, shall at all times have the exclusive right of electing their public teachers, and contracting with them for their support and maintenance. Christian leaders, pastors and teachers are encouraged to keep their charges, congregations, students, etc informed of what the government is doing from the pulpit, in private and public conversations, debates or conversation in general. No law is to be passed that limits the rights of Christian participation, leadership, or criticism of the government of Maine, the counties, or the local municipalities. All public meetings are to open with the Lords prayer and close with a Christian benediction thanking the Lord for the preceding and imploring His safety for all leaving the meeting.
Section 3a. Business closed on Sunday. Since it would not be possible for the Republic of Maine to secede and be free without the will and Divine help of the Lord God of Creation, and since the Lord God of Creation clearly states that in six days He created the heavens and the earth and all that is them and on them, and that He rested on the seventh day, the people of the Republic of Maine shall, as a Christian nation, in deep and abiding gratitude to God Almighty, the Trinity, the Creator, allow no businesses any where within the borders of the Republic of Maine, other than those exempted in section 3b, to open on the Sundays from midnight to midnight.
Section 3b. Businesses exempt from Section 3a. Since God in the form of the Lord Jesus, did on numerous occasions in the New Testament, heal on the Sabbath day, we therefore declare that those businesses that are necessary for human life, such as hospitals, pharmacies, and doctors offices may be open on Sundays, but only to offer services and products necessary for human life, products that could not wait till Monday. The Legislature, shall after notifying and consulting with Christian pastors, determine a list of businesses that shall be allowed to open on Sunday in a strictly voluntary manner. No public celebrations, games, or parties shall be allowed on the Sabbath and may not be exempted.
Section 4. Freedom of speech and publication; libel; truth given in evidence; jury determines law and fact. Every citizen may freely speak, write and publish sentiments on any subject, being responsible for the abuse of this liberty; no laws shall be passed regulating or restraining the freedom of the press; and in prosecutions for any publication respecting the official conduct of people in public capacity, or the qualifications of those who are candidates for the suffrages of the people, or where the matter published is proper for public information, the truth thereof may be given in evidence, and in all indictments for libels, the jury, after having received the direction of the court, shall have a right to determine, at their discretion, the law and the fact.
Section 5. Unreasonable searches prohibited. The people shall be secure in their persons, houses, papers and possessions from all unreasonable searches and seizures; and no warrant to search any place, or seize any person or thing, shall issue without a special designation of the place to be searched, and the person or thing to be seized, nor without probable cause -- supported by oath or affirmation.
Section 6. The Militia and the standing army of 1,000. So as to insure and guarantee the rights guaranteed in this Constitution, every natural born male in the Republic of Maine, upon reaching the age of 18 years from conception through age 67 years from conception, has, as a member of the Militia, the obligation to keep and bear arms for the common defense, for his and his families protection, to defend against this government or any government in the future from becoming oppressive, tyrannical, or in any other way obnoxious to freedom, and to secure the rights written in this Constitution. This obligation shall never be questioned. No law shall be passed that restricts this obligation, except for time in a local jail, county jail or Maine Republic prison. No law shall be passed, test given, or fee assessed to any citizen of the Republic of Maine that would restrict in any way that citizens right to be armed either concealed or open. Males who are found to be or confess to being homosexuals are exempted from serving in either the Militia or the standing army. Males over the age of 65 may be voluntary members of the militia with the full rights of Militia members. Natural born males between the age of 16 years from conception to 18 years from conception may volunteer for militia service with the written permission of parents or guardians. The standing army of 1,000 shall be drawn from the militia by the commander of the Militia and is under the command of the commander of the militia who is appointed by and reports directly to the President.
Section 7. All human life is precious and a gift from God. Age is counted from the moment life begins, which is at the moment of conception and as such, all human life is protected from conception to death and has the full rights of this Constitution from conception. Any citizen of the Republic of Maine may use what ever force he or she deems necessary to protect human life. All abortions are considered first degree premeditated murder, children are entrusted, by God the Creator to that child's parents and as such are the responsibility of the parents, not the state, no level of Government whether local, county or Republic is to, in any way, over rule a parent in the rearing, educating, and/or influencing that child in any way.
Section 7a. Education. All education is left to the local community, to the parents first and foremost and then to the city, town or community in which the family resides. The counties and the Republic are explicitly denied any role in a child's education with the exception of Militia members while on duty and prisoners while in the care of the county jail or prison of the Republic. The first and foremost responsibility to teach a child Religion, obedience, patriotism, loyalty, righteousness, and to be a productive member of society rest squarely upon the shoulders of the parent(s), the local communities role is to support and reinforce that parental responsibility.
Section 8. Land use ordinances.
“If you are not a Born Again why would you even care?”
Because my principles are offended by this proposal and I don’t live in the Republic of Maine yet where saying so might cause the government to punish me.
“You probably would be happier in the Sudan, or perhaps Israel, or maybe China, India, France or the USA”
Ridiculous and juvenile.
Apparently there will be no Jews allowed in the republic either.
What level of knowledge would one be required to have about Christianity in order to be able to comment on this? Could someone have deep, intimate knowledge of the subject and yet still disagree with forming a government based on enforcing it as a rule of law to the exclusion of all others? Or would you deride that knowledge as insufficient merely because of this disagreement?
“This is not a debate forum,”
Sounds like how this government you are proposing will work.
Well, of course. They’d probably be happier with their ‘own kind’ and all. Maine will be pure.
After a few generations Inbredistan will be snatching brides by force from across the border.
What you said.
Yes, it is.
If you want to use FR to spread your ideas, then you're going to have to accept the fact that you came to a forum.
If you want to control the conversation, start your own site and do it there.
Got nothing?
Oh, I assure you, I quoted the Constitution verbatim.
I understand why you are not offering a logical argument for your position: there is none.
I answered your request.
I'll ask again: who set the date for this referendum?
“Got nothing?”
3 questions are 3 more than nothing.
Missed this! Too funny.
Also, I can't find any evidence on any State of Maine website or any newssite, for that matter, that this "June 12, 2018" referendum date is real - it seems to have been unilaterally chosen by secession proponents, and to have no actual legal validity.
The North shall rise again!
Btw, FR does not advocate secession.
And if a member of this community decides to worship Allah, what do you do?
Zilch, zip, zero.
Sorry, thought you were being sarcastic. In the event that you're actually attempting to engage:
One's knowledge of Christianity would able to envision without moral conflict a society in which the government is based on Christian ethics, which are hospitable to the "stranger", but are not subject to other forms of government. It's like having someone over for dinner: you extend exquisite courtesies, but it's still your house and he doesn't get to own it.
Indulging an anti-Christian legal cult concerning "second class citizenship" is what got us into this situation. People envied the freedom, opportunity and prosperity of the USA, but sought to impose the unbelief, the poverty or the wretched cultures they came from instead of accepting the benign shelter of a nation that would protect you from persecution, allow you the private practice of your beliefs, but not allow you to outlaw the mainstream ideology, which is what has happened to this society from overinterpretation of the First Amendment.
The RoM's proposed founding document gives a framework for judges to make political decisions based on the ideology or philosophy, if you will, of a society that upholds Christian social values and teaches them in schools without compelling all its citizens to attend worship services at the point of a gun. A Christian social value is not a frightening imposition in most cases. It's only frightening if someone has a particular idolatry for a type of behavior that could cause social decay, such as murder, theft, adultery, child abuse, etc.
Could someone have deep, intimate knowledge of the subject and yet still disagree with forming a government based on enforcing it as a rule of law to the exclusion of all others?
Not if one wanted to live in the Republic of Maine. It's pretty simple, really; its founders are calling not every person or any person, but a specific type of person to come to the founding. So if you have big problems with it, it's not for you, and why fight?
Problems for them will come in the same way they did for the USA, after a few generations, when people start to get lazy or "liberal" -- recalling here the words of Benjamin Franklin to a bystander as he exited the US Constitutional Convention just after the document was signed: "A republic, ma'am, if you can keep it."
Or would you deride that knowledge as insufficient merely because of this disagreement?
As above, if the proposed Constitution is not for you, why bother even to concern yourself? It would seem you are fighting with Christianity itself, or the idea that some people would voluntarily wish to return to what we had before: a Constitutional republic based on the sociopolitical values of Christianity. The law was not a theocracy; but the society was a Christian community; and society, not the federal government, ruled its social interactions. It was a government of the people, by the people and for the people; and the government required the consent of the governed. The federal government was for defense and relations with foreign powers. The rest was up to the communities.
It is hard for persons of today to envision just how gradually these mores were broken down, but let me give just one example from the era when "rights" activists were making great strides in outlawing Christian values through the courts. In the 1970s, there was a case in the midwest of a young female elementary school librarian who had an affair with an older, married male teacher in the same school. When the librarian became pregnant, the school fired her, because the community was scandalized by the example in front of elementary children of a woman becoming pregnant outside of marriage, much less with an adulterous married father.
The librarian sued to retain her job; a "rights" organization took the case all the way to the US Supreme Court, which decided in her favor, ruling against the Christian values of the community, which had favored upholding marriage, vindicating the abandoned wife and children, and removing a corrupting influence from the schoolchildren. The adulterers would be left with the consequences of their own free will choices. Instead, the Nanny State stepped in and made a Federal decision that upheld a right to employment over the values of marriage, family, sexual propriety, the innocence of prepubescent children and the obligations of a married father to his existing offspring. It may be hard to picture, in these days post-marriage, post-birth-control and post-legal-abortion; but cases like these were promulgated and fought in no small part to "liberate" the US from Christian social morality.

and a general page on Maine elections,

This part goes to the question of militia requiring voter IDs at the polling place,
“If I am registered to vote in Maine, I can vote. I do not need to show ID to get a ballot. 21-A MRSA §§111 and 671.”
and a Maine registered voter can always vote a challenged ballot.
First, let me make clear that I am not a member of this or any other secessionist society; have never met the person who posted this thread and have never before read their material. I have merely been intellectually intrigued on this thread by the idea of whether it would even be possible to resurrect a place in which to practice a Christ-based community such as what actually occured when several sects of persecuted Christians came to the Americas in the 1600s to start a new nation here. There were many problems and much strife; but eventually a civil contract was hammered out and many enjoyed great benefits for the next two hundred + years.
Now it is all in ruins; I'm wrestling, as are many, with what went wrong and if there are local solutions to an increasingly global march of tyranny.
So, to answer your question strictly theoretically: if someone wanted to worship Allah, presumably he or she would not be approved to enter the founding community. If this occurred in a generation or more after the founding, perhaps the RoM would have better luck making a legal distinction between the religion of Islam and the political system of shari'a than the US is presently doing.
