The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

I have transplanted trees in all seasons, but it is better to wait until they go dormant in the fall.

Hubby has been doing that every day for about a week and a half-after he has already poured concrete and finished it. LOL
The taters need hilled and the seeds and seedlings need planted. Other than that the garden’s great lol!

Here in Southern NH the lettuce and peas have been in for two weeks. Tomatoes ( trying single stem on a few this year to preserve garden space ) go in tomorrow. Other plantings will also happen. Sunday, church, then we’ll hit a town parade and visit some of the family grave sites. Monday, fly fishing in the morning and back in the garden all afternoon. Each day topped off with some icy cold local brew.

A few years back I got about 25 truck loads from Maxwell AFB, which has a large composting facility... Mandated by various green laws to compost stuff rather then throwing it out.
Well, I didn’t know to what extent Maxwell sprays all their beautiful lawns and the golf course, but they run through thousands of gallons of Round-Up and other poisons a year... I ruined a series of raised beds I made.
I also got a bad infestation of Yellow Nutsedge I am still fighting.
Free compost is great, but please, I strongly urge you to find out what it is made from and what chemicals they’ve used on the plants before grinding.

Yeh, but it couldn’t be any worse than natto. While I have not actually eaten either one, the description does not incline me toward trying either one.LOL

Your market space looked really nice. I hope you sold some stuff. I would have bought some of all, probably. My wife would want eggs, and I am a sucker for baked goods.
We went down to our local Farmers market once to find it rather tiny and only a few growers, but several arts and crafts venders.
We asked about space; It was $75 per. That’s why it was so small, I guess. That’s sad, I was expecting more from it.
There are issues with the MK4 supplements, but hopefully they will eventually get that straightened out. For now, my MK4 sources are from food. Primarily eggs and gouda cheese, but sometimes chicken liver, chicken breasts and so forth.
I am in the process of trying to find a another source of eggs, since the farmer we were buying from retired, and moved to Texas.
I haven’t heard about the thorne’s drops, so I’ll have to check that out. I also read that Pure Indian Foods makes Ghee (clarified butter) from grass fed cows, and that would be a good source too.
Oh yes, good for the brain and a preventative/slowing factor in Alzheimers.

Beautiful, and nicely wrapped. I wish that we had a farmer’s market near us, but we do have a neighbor and friend who sells fresh eggs from his chickens. That’s a treat.

one bottle lasts the whole family 4 or 5 months though. 1 drop per.
gouda cheese is yummy. and iirc the jarlsberg swiss has k2 as well. It seems adequate k2 during childhood can determine orthodontic issues or lack thereof. I first read about k2 in the Weston Price stuff.
We don’t have chipmunks, but we have squirrels. We usually just use live traps and bait them with whatever the little bushy tails are showing an interest in.
Then we haul them off to the woods. Lately the swimming pool is lending a hand. For some reason they seem to want to dive in from the closest tree, and then can’t seem to find their way out.
I have heard that cayenne pepper sprinkle around the edges helps keep them away, among other things. I have never tried any of the deterrent stuff.
That sounds like a real good deal with the greenhouse. Hubby has a good crop of corn started, if we can just have enough water to keep it going this year.
