Microsoft might be preparing to give the public its first taste of Windows 9 between the second and third quarters of 2015, according to a newly leaked document.
Tech blog Myce has obtained a leaked internal Microsoft document from a source in China known as FaiKee.
The document, first spotted on Myce's website by Windows blog WinBeta, lists both Windows 9 and Windows Phone 9 as scheduled for a release preview between Q2 and Q3 2015.
Here's a screenshot of the document:
A release preview is exactly what its name suggests. It's a nearly finished version of the software that the public gets to mess around with before the official launch.

Yes, thanks. I use the classic shell and it helped some. My problem is stuff that worked perfectly on my XP won’t work on Win 8. I have problems staying automatically logged onto some sites I visit frequently, my perfectly good MS Office won’t work, games I would play on XP won’t work, trying to coax that “charms” crap to peak out is a pain, I cannot get my old printer to work right with 8, and virtually anything I try to duplicate from my working XP over to the win 8 takes hours of work, anger, frustration and often failure. I love the new powerful computer.
Life’s too short for dealing with this this crap.
Me too. It's working great on two desktops, a netbook, a laptop, a tablet and a phone. I don't understand all the Win8 bashing.
When Windows ‘fixes’ stuff, my unbroken things no longer work.
I see Apples in my future.
1. it must just work.
2. it must be robust.
3. it must be reliable.
4. it should not provide hackers with ways into the system.
Can Microsoft do it?
"Dad, I wish you could just shut your big YAPPER!"
I used to work on an operating system that met the above criteria VERY CLOSELY — OpenVMS (used to be owned by DEC, now HP owns it ).
Unfortunately, it isn’t very popular nowadays.
“There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission....”
Just bought a new top of the line Dell at home.. I ordered it with Win7, which I still have on my other ‘puter.. I like it quite a bit... don’t know why that had to change it up to 8...
tablets don’t work for me for music composition and commercials composition...some of us still need desktop ‘puters.
And, there are so many annoying things; e.g. having to type a password every time I turn the machine on. Maybe there is even a work around to avoid that but researching and setting that up would be another pain I didn’t need.
Annoying because I cannot wait that long. Also, unless they bring back the old format, with a DAMN START MENU!... and CTR ALT DELETE!!!! Seriously, in trying to mimic Apple, they ruined everything with Windows 8
Hopefully they took windows 7, tweaked the kernal to make it faster, and then took a sharpie to the box of windows 7 and turned the 7 into a 9....

Articles like this make me want to add another Win 7 laptop to my back-up array.
AS lot of problems? But not all?
I once received a note from MS asking me to become a “Beta Tester.”
I beta tested Vista for them and they shipped me a free Vista Ultimate when it was complete. I gave it away and went back to my XP for the time being.
Win 7 now for years. Run it on seven laptops.
Oh, beta tested Win 8, also, and gave away the final copy.
I’m running Word 7 on my MiniMac. Not good. Clunky and limiting.
I don’t know whether I hate the Apple or the Word; probably the Apple, as Windows/Word worked on all of my Dells.
The salesman at Apple was flummoxed when I told him I have ZERO interest in technolgy. ALL I need is a flexible word processor with Internet.
Anyone remember Word Star? Now THERE was a program. All I needed then and all I need now. Big sigh. I’m going back to the quill.
Your truly,
Veto the Luddite Grrrrl
I have no qualms with Windows 8. Never used it, never will.
FaiKee sure sounds trustworthy. :p
I’m using Office 97 on Win 8.1, what kind of problems are you having?
Happy with 95...ditto 98SE...skipped ME...happy with XP....skipped Vista...happy with 7....skipped 8....will skip 9.
Try Open Office, looks just like Word 97, works great on a PC, haven’t tried it on a Mac though.
