Well, I just wanted to toss this out and get it off my chest as well as for some (hopefully) amusing discussion. There are some small differences though, the music mostly sucks today and I think the economy is worse than even the darkest of the Carter years.

I wish I’d kept my Nik-Nik shirts....and my hair.

The only thing that made that miserable decade bearable for me was Farrah Fawcett, and sadly she’s not here for the reprise.

My condolences.

Reset the wayback machine for a better time and a better place.

This is exactly what happens when a particular crowd of criminals is in charge.

...and they’re coming out with a new Star Wars next year. It IS the 1970s all over again.

This brings back a memory. I was doing the dishes in another room with the TV on in the living room. Governor Brown was giving a speech. It made no sense. I stopped what I was doing and went in to listen. There he was, the governor of California, giving a televised speech and CLEARLY stoned out of his gourd. Not one sentence made sense and nobody commented on it. I was astonished.

We had much cooler cars and much better music though. And girls wore tube tops.

The big difference with things now, and then:

Then the biggest communist nation on earth was Russia, but the biggest economy on earth was America.

Now the biggest communist nation on earth is China, and the biggest economy on earth is (soon to be) China.

Otherwise, I agree with your comparison.

Obama has been very effective. You need to understand his mission, which is not difficult given his words and deeds.

Neither Peanut Boy nor Mullah Ubama are "inept."

They both hate America, and they both succeeded in harming her.

The 1970s was a horrible decade.

But it looks like heaven, compared to the degenerate, freak-show Homo-America of today. No kids being suspended back then for nibbling pop-tarts into the shape of a gun. No convicted traitor being given expensive sex-change treatments on taxpayers’ dimes. American Bandstand might have had some creepy singers, but at least no Miley Cyrus with a foam finger. No perverted faggot football players slobbering and giving tongue-baths on national television.

1970s, a rancid decade. But 2014, America has become an all-out, vomitous insane asylum.

Carter was an awful president, but at the very least, a military operation was launched to try to save the hostages in Iran. The operation failed miserably and soldiers died, but at least a rescue was tried.

Unlike Benghazi where 4 of our citizens were left to die.

This president and his accomplices don't care about American citizens unless they can be used as campaign props.

In the 1970s we had incompetence. Today we have evil.

I was sitting in line getting gas the other day and thought the same thing. Look around and stores in strip malls are empty, everyone complaining about high prices.

Only now the press is in the tank with Jimmy Carter, and you’ll never hear the word “stagflation” or “misery index”

we have Jerry "Governor Moonbeam" Brown as governor of California.

And "Governor Moonbeam" is still playing games with the budget and screwing up transportation. It's Deja Vu all over again!

I had a great time in SoCal in the 70’s. I wasn’t out of work, necessities were far cheaper, people were more honorable, kids were not exposed to the hideous sex/crime culture of today…..compared with today, the 70s were innocent times.

PLUS, and this is the big one, I was REALLY A LOT YOUNGER then.
