When it comes to discovering elements the United Kingdom is at the top of the table.
This periodic table graphic was posted by Google Science Fair on Sunday and shows which nations discovered each element on the periodic table.
Leading the charge, the UK has discovered 24 elements, closely followed by the US with 21, Sweden with 20 and Germany with 19.
A number of old favorites including gold, mercury and copper are listed as ancient discovery and dont have a country of origin.

What a racist chart/table.
What greed, eh?
No kenya?
RACIST.....No African country were listed. But since Blacks built the pyramids its all good.
But I thought the Muslim contributions to science were innumerable.
Jihadium-72 was discovered in the ME and is a critical element there
Of course, a Russian “discovered” the periodic table itself, which was one of the most amazing leaps of science ever, considering that he did it LONG before the actual nature of atomic structure itself was even vaguely understood.
I didn’t see Mexico, Zimbabwe or Saudi Arabia in the mix.
"I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong."
What?? No Mus-lame countries? Obviously this table is racist!
I’m sure North Koreans are taught that Kim Il-sung discovered all of them.
Wasn't it an insane Kenyan who claimed discovery of the fraudulent element "hopeychangieum"?
Who found “Denser than Grain, Rok Hard Stupid”?
No Muslim countries? What are you talking about? Sweden is quite prominent.
It’s because white male chauvinists have a misguided worship of individual rights and ideas of property ownership. An inclusive culture worships mother gaia and so people of color have a more nuanced, holistic outlook that doesn’t discriminate between elements. /s
Obama will be appointing a special science advisor to help the Muslim countries discover new elements for the periodic table. Someone needs to tell him the only ones they’re interested in have already been discovered: uranium (#92) and plutonium (#94)
