I leave it out - no problem so far in it’s going rancid - andother big plus over olive oil.

WEll, I wouldn’t leave a 54 ouncer out. I usually put in 16 oz jars for the counter top. I use it so much that it goes quickly.

It has three big advantages over olive oil - it’s doens’ go rancid and has a higher burn point and it’s flavor doesn’t overpower.

Olive oil is best used quickly and unheated, as in bread dips. I just don’t use it -

You can also use coconut oil for things like salad dressing and mayonnaise

What a cute little apple head! I love when their faces are like that. Looks like a Disney character.

I mixed a tablespoon of coconut oil with a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter. It made a mighty tasty spread for my thin sliced bagel, but it would make a terrific dip for some apple slices, or even some baby carrots.

If some existing company had any sense, they’d start selling coconut/peanut butter spreads exactly like the one you just invented.

Everybody’s on the “Nutella” bandwagon and that’s really just glorified junk food.

[you should start whipping up batches of SuziQ’s Coco-P-Nut spread right now!]

:)

I think someone mentioned substituting it for some of the oil or butter in baked goods. It would be a way to get SOME coconut oil in them. If you don’t tell them, they won’t know!

Mmmm. Add some almonds on top of the bars, or put some slivered almonds in it, and you’re adding some great food value, not to mention making them kinda like an almond joy!

So why was coconut oil banned from movie theater popcorn? Things that make you go “HMMMM?”

Because it's a saturated fat, and those are BAD, don't you know. I guess the Center for Science in the Public Interest didn't look past that to see what kinds of triglycerides are actually in it.

Ha! I like that; Coco-P-Nut Spread! Hmm. That makes me think Coco-Almond Butter Spread might be even better!! I love Almond Butter, and you can make it yourself by grinding roasted almonds in the food processor, or getting it fresh ground from a health food, or natural foods store, or even Wegman’s!

I think it was the hydrogenated form that was so terrible.

It seems their rates for dementia/Alzheimer’s is fairly low.

Fiji comes in third to last for their rate.

I just looked up the diet of Fijians.

http://www.worldette.com/ignite-your-travel-life/travel/2012/fiji-food-delicious-natural-traditional/

The basics of Fijian food consists of rice, sweet potatoes, taro, cassava, coconut and fish; and using mostly open fire or underground cooking methods, the ingredients are made into one of the following national dishes. The heavy influence of the Indo-Fijian culture also means the cuisine has elements of colorful curries and spices with it.

(Did you see that coconut is in there?)
