most of these unsafe cities and cities where there are no jobs and no opportunity are run by democrats
People who think they are safe anywhere are deluding themselves.
Yakima? Really, with the likes of Detroit, Chicago, Houston, Baltimore, etc...
There are parts of almost every city where most people would not feel safe at night, let alone during the day.
Something is missing here (maybe it’s me). Are they only measuring change through polling? There is no mention of Chicago or Detroit. This may be the result of having larger populations to dilute the danger (via statistics)?
The cities represented have comparably smaller populations. So that might factor in.
Three of those cities are right near each other on the I-5/US-99 corridor in the gun-free paradise of California (Stockton, Modesto, Fresno).
McAllen, Fresno, Modesto, Stockton, and Yakima all have large populations of immigrants who have committed acts of love. I can guess what the predominant ethnic group is in the other five cities.
Notice the assumption in the stats prevented - the correlation between poverty and crime.
That’s a false correlation. The correlations are between culture and crime, and culture and poverty.

Interesting....High on the list you would think there would be cities such as....
1) Chicago
2) Detroit
3) DC
4) Philadelphia
5) Oakland
6) New Orleans
7) St. Louis
8) Gary
9) Camden
10) Baltimore
And the correct answer is....
INNER!!!!!
Think about it!!!!
McAllen, Texas. Border town.
Though 70.5 and 71 are pretty close statistically, that difference represents 1.5 million Americans who now feel unsafe when walking at night. There could be all kinds of reasons for this, but I think the biggest reason is that they really aren’t as safe. Probably more people should feel unsafe.
( Those cities that are attracting a lot of first and second generation immigrants have really much lower crime rates than youd expect, said Roman.)
No I would expect that. 1. They are less likely to speak to the police or cooperate. They are less likely to report being a crime victim. These both help keep the stats down..
immigrant populations are thriving because they can do business with the local governments in Spanish. Those cities that are attracting a lot of first and second generation immigrants have really much lower crime rates than youd expect,
Crime rate and actual crime are two different things. Illegal immigrants probably don’t report crimes very often.
In my opinion, it’s racist to feel unsafe.
Hartford? Bridgeport? New Haven? Newark?
8. Memphis, Tenn.-Miss.-Ark.

I was on Beale Street a few years ago and I didn’t feel safe. Not at all.
AND IT WAS BROAD OPEN DAYLIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!.
Feeling safe doesn’t matter. Being safe does. Are there any areas where a person is safe? Would you let your grandmother go out for a walk with your daughter?
Is there any area where there is a sense of society? Where people go out for a walk in the city?
Not many, eh?
No Chicago?
I live outside of Tampa. I did’t feel safe because of the pitbulls, wild hogs, and panthers that live in the area.
So I carry, now I feel safe.
Yakima, Wash has aprox. 250,000 people so the 350/100K equals about 875 violent crimes in 2012.
And somehow the home invasions and gang banging there is always making the national news.
I was born there, visit occasionally, and wouldn’t thing of being unarmed there.
Years ago, Dad’s neighbor came home and interupted a couple guys carrying part of his firearm collection out of the house. The neighbor drew the part of the collection, not stored in the house, and shot and killed one of the perps.
Dad was always well prepared.
