Del Taco Customer Mistakenly Charged $4,050 for 2 Tacos and Pizza

Dozens of customers at a Del Taco restaurant in Santa Paula were mistakenly charged thousands of dollars for their fast-food tacos, drinks and other menu items.
One customer said he was charged $4,050 for one CrunchTada Pizza and two beef tacos, according to the Associated Press. The meal should have cost less than $5.

Have you ever bought something when the cash register is down?In a lot of places these days, you can't even buy something with cash when the register is down. It's part and parcel of the accounting system, the inventory system, and the payroll system (who's at what register and when). And where would they put the money, and how would they make change (even if they know how). So it's a complete shutdown.
I saw this first hand in Santa Cruz in 2009 after fiber optic lines from San Jose were cut in an act of sabotage (probably Union).

Don't even think about ordering a "dozen" of anything when the counter person is a chirren....You'll get that glazed-over look in return.
