A message in a bottle that was thrown into the ocean in 1913 and recently found by a fisherman off the coast of Germany was returned to the sender's granddaughter.
"It was very surprising," said Angela Erdmann, 62, to The Guardian. "A man stood in front of my door and told me he had post from my grandfather. He then told me that a message in a bottle was found and that the name that was on the card was that of my grandfather."

I love it! My friend's mother passed not long ago and in going through her possessions she found a Bible that belonged to her gggrandfather, who was a preacher in the 1800’s.The Bible had a blank page on the other side of the written word for his sermon notes. Also he had tucked in the pages pictures and old newspaper clippings, etc. She said I could look at it when I have time.

Maybe in another 100 years or so, debris from MH370 will start washing up on shore.

I recently found this old post card which was sent to my Grandmother around 1900 when she was a girl. The surprising thing to me is that it is in color. After examining the picture closely it was obviously hand colored.

The stamp had fallen off but the postage was only a penny even to Europe.
