I hope she’s ready to affirm same-sex marriage. (that’s a requirement now)

I'd be proud of her too however this is not the time of Reagan or Bush or Eisenhower or even Kennedy...

they promote gayness and they promote antiChristianity....

they are training them to turn on we the citizens...

in all good conscience why would anybody encourage or enable their sons or dtrs to be part of this?....why feed the monster?

What branch of the military is she planning on joining?

She needs to stay focused in school. HS transcripts tell a lot. Is she looking at getting a commission? Does her HS offer ROTC?

Tell her to stay the hell away from today’s military....it’s not yours or your father’s. It’s a social experiment which incidentally, does not protect women from rape or assault.

don’t do it today.

I would never serve or help progressives in any endeavor they partake. furthermore, I would recommend tripping them up and sabotaging their efforts at every opportunity

With the utter structural damage that has been done to the military by the current regime, I could not, in clear conscience, counsel anybody to go in at this time...and probably not for several years, if not a decade or longer, until after this regime is ousted from power. And THAT’s if a conservative replaces him. If Hitlery replaces him, then God have mercy on us all.

Does she have a FReeper view on the world and on society? Particularly in regard to conservative politics...and most especially in regard to sodomites? If so, she will have to guard her tongue...both on duty and off duty...as long as she wears the uniform.

If she is really interested, I’d suggest that she graduate from HS, go on and get a 4 year degree from a good, solid, God-fearing college...and, at that point, take a good hard look at it.

Signed,
MSgt, USAF (Ret)

ROTC, then get a job requiring a clearance. She will be able to find a great job in EM at the Fed level or with a consulting firm and make over $100,000 a year.

Talk to her about going through the ROTC program. It will pay for her college and get her feet wet with the military.

ROTC. As much as possible.

My favorite cousin joined the army decades ago. She went to college, though, and went through ROTC there before enlisting. She went through various training including parachuting (just training, nothing major). She went to various posts before meeting her husband in Seattle, who also was Army. They have since been in various positions until her husband retired (she quit the Army a while back), including much in Germany and also in Egypt. (She was returning to Egypt from leave at the time of that airline crash from NY - scary!) They are back in Germany for the Army because they offered HER a job teaching German/English as needed (that was her major in college), and her husband went with her.

Maybe your daughter could encourage my twin nieces to join. Regardless of the PC, I think they could still get a nice kick in the respective butts that would straighten them out.

Don't listen to the naysayers. I've got 10+ years in the Navy and I truly love my job. I'm at sea right now as I type this reply (yes, we have internet).

I'm paid well, serve with a great bunch of people, get to see the world, enjoy excellent benefits and I don't have to enroll in Obamacare (not yet, anyways).

I would recommend the Navy to anyone interested in serving.

The military is getting very selective now.

To join as an enlisted soldier:

You need a HS diploma. No GED.
No run-ins with the law. No drugs. No DUI.
Pass a military SAT type test
Take a physical fitness test
No medical issues. Not even a minor one. No asthma.

Military intelligence will get you a civilian job. Same with logistics and communications.

a) Is she a Christian? If so, and she can be IN this world but not OF it, she will do fine, but only insofar as she does not lose faith. b) is she well immunized from mental illness? (e.g., Does she know not to take personal offense at another’s mental illness and just carry on, normally? Can/will she avoid attempting to engage in logical arguments with irrational people? Can she maintain objectivity under duress? Can she defend herself when confronted by a lunatic by acting even crazier if needed and moving to safety?)
If these are true, she will be fine. Otherwise, it will not end well.

She sounds like an excellent candidate for the military academies! Going there will open a world of possibilities for her she never thought possible. Every year they are rated as among the top universities in the country, but it takes a special kind of person to go there. She sounds like just the type. For sure it us worth at least taking a look. I have a coffee mug on my desk with the cover of the 2009 Forbes Magazine ranking colleges titled “Why West Point Beats Harvard” ranking it as the best in the country. Really gets under the skin of the Harvard folks I work with. Great experience for young women. Heck, I met my wife there :)

Hmmm.....don't know what to say, but I have wondered, to myself, if I would do it all over again. 5 years ago? You betcha. Now?

I don't honestly know. I am leaning towards no.

....and that pisses me off.

Does she speak Spanish, Russian or Mandarin?

How does she look with a shaved head?

Its is really a mixed bag. Try CAP for now see how she does. Excellently? Go for a Service Academy? Successful? Keep Going. Stay ‘normal’ but KYMS. Does she see herself in this Poem? Full Speed Ahead!

If—
BY RUDYARD KIPLING
(‘Brother Square-Toes’—Rewards and Fairies)

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

(my apologies for gender-specific text)
