In before the it’s not the breed it’s the owners.
BTW, If that happened to my pets, the pit bulls would have been euthanized on the spot.
The problem with pit bulls is that they are like bengal tigers. They make great pets, until they don’t. And when they turn, it’s not the same as a weiner dog turning. It’s a little more impactive to all concerned.
Not that I’m against the dogs. I would just like to see the owners made legally responsible for what they do. And I believe that is already the case.
Pit Bulls are sweet and well-behaved dogs. You do hear about the problem dogs.
The media never reports on owners who never have a problem with their pit bulls. This is Gresham’s Law applied to reporting on animals: bad news drives out good news.
Its unfair to tarnish all pit bulls as being a menace based on the actions of a few rogue dogs.
Pit bulls in the news today:

>>The pit bulls could be euthanized if a judge orders it.
They should have been euthanized already, and regardless of a judge’s order.
If someone’s dog did this to my dog, I would kill their dog immediately. If my own dog did this to another person’s dogs, I would kill my own dog immediately. There is no grey area in my view. Killer dogs have no place.
If I had neighbors who own aggressive unsocialized pit bulls next door. A doggy door would be the last thing I would provide to make a disaster not only possible, but likely.
A shotgun would be my first investment.
No further comments would be useful. I am biting my tongue. It could have been worse.
This whole thing defies logic and has been in defiance of logic for a long, long time.
ayep! them doggie doors sure area a blessing! what could possibly go wrong? (burglars, skunks, etc...
I suppose the dogs IN THEIR HOUSE were provoking the pit bulls, right? They could hear them, so they demolished a fence to go kill what they heard. Otherwise they are sweet harmless little doggies? Look, I’m dog people, my two Maltepoos sleep in my bed and I cook for them more than I cook for myself, Pit bulls MIGHT have been trustworthy dogs way back when, but they are not now. The breed has been ruined by selective breeding FOR VIOLENCE. I doubt there is a pit bull alive that does not have a fighting, violent dog in its bloodline. WHY would anyone-in light of such stories and disdain of the breed-CHOOSE a pit bull over the countless other breeds of dogs to raise and love? It is the very dangerous appearance and aggressive nature that is desired in most cases. It’s having Godzilla on a leash, appearing as ‘master’ of something society considers dangerous. It’s ego,IMO. I can see NO other reason for an intelligent person to choose a pit bull over any other large dog( if large is what you like).Great Danes are bigger, so are St Bernards and Afghan hounds and even Collies. You’re not going to breed a dog’s nature out-even mixes show traits of their parents. Pointers point, herders have the herd instinct and pit bulls of today are ALL, ALL related to a fighting dog unless you get a show quality animal from a breeder who can prove many generations with no violent dogs in the bloodline. And that is not what most people buy/acquire.
Charging through fences and into homes to kill? Goodbye dogs-and the owners( once incarcerated) should be sued until they can’t afford a tent to live in. Hurt my pups and God help you!
I had a neighbor with 2 mean pits that kept trying to break the fence and get at my dog. I told him if they got in my yard and killed my dog I would be coming after him. (he got the message) He chained his dogs up and moved shortly after.
I can’t read anymore.
May God bless this trio of lovely dogs. May they know they are remembered and prayed for. You are in His arms, my darling ones, and one day you will be reunited with all those that you love. You are now whole, and you will be safe and cared for forever.
If these were my dogs, I would shoot the two Pit Bulls dead, then the owners.
Something like this happened to me, but I don’t blame the pit - I blamed the owner. If you want a picture of an irresponsible owner this one nailed it.
It was a giant - way up to the end of size range -pit, unneutered (seriously - it had giant testicles that were the first thing you noticed ) wandering around loose. Then they sent their kid out to bring it home, which consisted of a little child chasing the dog around for hours screaming at it as it wandered on people’s porches and yards almost a mile from home. The people insisted they were moving and it was a rare chance it got out.
Several months after that dog killed my animal, I was in a vet and a woman was complaining that a pit had been wandering into her yard all the time and she was worried about her little dogs. Yep, you guessed it -same dog.
This one was not the dog’s fault, IMHO. If I were the law, I would have come down on those folks so hard they would seriously regret it. I made the woman aware of the police report. I’m going to follow up.
If the owner of the three dead dogs files a civil suit against the owner of the pit bulls, I wonder what is the maximum amount that could be claimed and awarded. Presumably it would be more than the cost of replacing the dead dogs.
Anyone who TRUSTS a pitbull needs a lobotomy.
you could not pay me to keep a pit bull and if some errant owner allowed his pits to kill my dog there would be hell to pay . Pits are killers and that’s all there is to it . Why any choose to keep them I cannot fathom .
I was down at the pound the other day looking for a dog to replace my old girl who passed on, and I watched and listened to the Veterinarian as he walked down the row of kennels shaking his head and muttering “Pit-bulls and Chiwawas... Pit-bulls and Chiwawas...”.
The damned things are a dime a dozen around here. At the pound and on Craigslist.
