Pit Bulls are sweet and well-behaved dogs. You do hear about the problem dogs.

The media never reports on owners who never have a problem with their pit bulls. This is Gresham’s Law applied to reporting on animals: bad news drives out good news.

Its unfair to tarnish all pit bulls as being a menace based on the actions of a few rogue dogs.

I have never heard of shih-tzus attacking and killing other dogs. Or attacking and killing children. Or attacking and killing senior citizens. I have, however, heard of Pitbulls doing this on a regular basis.

Sorry, but it IS tghe breed and the instincts that are bred into them.

Just like a retriever will retrieve with little encouragement, a pitbull will kill with little encouragement or training, it is what their instincts tell them to do.

Since you can’t tell for sure which ones are going to turn vicious, that’s a reasonable response.

Suffice to say, that all ghastly stories about problem killer dogs are contained in the statistics, regardless of breed. Pit Bulls are not singled out.

The statistics speak for themselves. No amount of delusional sugar coating can trump reality.

Time to join the real world. No amount of rationalizing can bring back to life the growing list of human and pet victims.

I volunteer at our local animal shelter and it constantly rains pit bulls. So many of them are sweet and good natured dogs and deserve a good home. that being said, they are overbred and sold for drugs and dog fighting. Because it is prevalent in the “gangster” culture and fear of offending the breeders nothing is done. People like me have to see many of the good ones EU’d when they could make someone a wonderful pet.

RIP to these sweet dogs. Nothing can bring them back and the owner of the pits should be held responsible and these dogs should be EU’d .

Yes, I know, pit bulls are dogs of peace until the pit has a bad day, then some person or animal is going to die. It doesn’t take much to trip them off. It may be nothing more than a child or animal gleefully running around inside the house that triggers his blood gene. I have observed this pit behavior close up. It was like the pit was waging war inside his head trying to keep his attack genes from taking over. The observed behavior scared the hell out of me.

BS. I have known three people who bought that line only to have family members attacked by these “sweet dogs”. In all three cases the dogs had been raised from puppies, been well socialized and were thought to be great family pets until they turned into Cujo. In all three cases the owner had to shoot the dog after they turned on family members. One was actually trying to break through the front door to get to the wife and child. As the man got out of his truck the dog turned on him. He was able to kick the dog hard enough to get away and get back into his truck to retrieve his 357. The dog was crashing against the side of the truck when the man shot him.

They are such sweet dogs. None of these dogs were mistreated and all the owners were good people who bought the sweet dog/great family protector crap. They learned the hard way that these dogs were trained to kill and are walking time bombs. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt, but one of the children is scared to death of dogs and probably always will be. Another has a scar on her leg which will be a lasting reminder of owning this sweet breed.

We have a pit and a chihuahua. The Chi rules that pit. If the chi wants the chair the pit gets down. The chi eats first, and play is when he’s in the mood.

The cat, of course, rules them all, with an iron claw.
