Man does C-section on dead porcupine, saves baby
LISBON, Maine A Maine man in search of a valuable mineral cut open a dead porcupine on the side of the road and unexpectedly pulled out its baby.
Jared Buzzell, of Lisbon, says he was searching for wild mushrooms Thursday when he saw a porcupine get hit by a car in Minot. Buzzell says he'd heard that a valuable mineral deposit used in Chinese medicine formed in the stomachs of porcupines.
He then cut open the dead porcupine to search for the mineral and instead found the baby.
He tells WMTW-TV (bit.ly/1hlWRUl) he cut the umbilical cord and thought the baby porcupine was dead until he started massaging it and it began breathing.

He saved it so I guess now he’s stuck with it.
The department of fish and wildlife will be ther to destroy the baby to protect the baby.
This is the most exciting thing to happen in Maine for decades.
It was a cheap blue tooth kkkkeyboard. It sorta oooof wwwworks now after the spray, but some kkkkeys are sticking. LOL.
Because... I never thought about how they gave birth, and may regret thinking about it at all.
The quill are soft at birth and harden later.
I remember a vets school prof that got in a mother and 6 baby ferrets, He euthanized them for their good, Their slaughter of perfectly good animals, even ones they had fixed, sent me to a different University and another program.

I’m trying to follow the progression here. He’s looking for mushrooms, witnesses a fatal motor event involving a porcupine, recalls from the recesses of his brain that there is a certain “mineral” the Chinese harvest from recently deceased porcupines. Having no idea what the “mineral” is or what it looks like, he then makes the decision to go in anyway on an exploratory. The rest is history.
Seared Porcupine spleen goes well with Turnip greens, okra, succotash and Moxie.
What about baby birds? They aren’t cute for a long time!
They don’t do any damage to dogs, dogs just get damaged trying to damage to porcupines.
Porcukarma.
How you found this 7 year old thread beats me.
But I stand by my comment back then kill them on sight.
People who hunt my property are told.
World record buck and a porcupine are standing there in front of you.
The Porcupine better not get away.
