While we wait to see if freshmen series like Almost Human and Tomorrow People survive for a second year, we thought itd be a good time to take a look back at some of our favorite one-season sci-fi wonders.
Were drawing close to the dog days of summer, and though theres more original sci-fi fare than there used to be, its still essentially the doldrums for a genre fan. Luckily for all of us, thats where streaming services like Netflix come in handy. What better way to spend the downtime than to catch up on some gems that never got a second chance?

Awake’s ending was contrived and disappointing. It was more like the Pam Ewing season that was a dream.
I thought Caprica survived more than 1 season. By the time it seemed to have figured out what direction is was going, it was too late.
Outcasts was interesting. The Gates was pretty good — different, at least.
It looks like several more will be joining the club at the end of the current season.
Intelligence (CBS) is low in the ratings. I enjoy it, Almost Human, and Tomorrow People. CW’s Star-Crossed seems headed for a short-run.
Now I wait to watch a show that has a continuing story line from week to week and season to season until I know that it is critically acclaimed and also has what the creator deemed as closure........
Sopranos
Breaking Bad
Lost
Firefly without doubt... Think I might watch the series again..thanks for the heads up.
science seems to do a sunday firefly marathone every 3 months or so.
“can’t stop the signal”
I love Continuum. I believe it will be coming back around early part of April.
Or...
Tough choice.
.
Simon: I'm trying to put this as delicately as I can... How do I know you won't kill me in my sleep?
Mal: You don't know me, son, so let me explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.
I could watch Firefly over and over.
Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You cant take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...
I liked The Time Tunnel. It was on Friday nights on ABC, in the 1966-67 TV season. It only had one season. I’ve never seen that series rerun.
save list Netflix
Cleopatra 2525.
Some episodes of Science Fiction Theater are on Youtube. That was a great show.
The stupid characters are beginning to annoy me. Marg Helgenberger's character as head of Cyber Command was shocked, shocked that her cell phone could be tracked. Duh... tracking people's electronics seems to be a key to about half the episodes and she's surprised when her superiors do it to her? That and allowing anyone and his brother to keep their cell phones in a secure facility just texting away?
I thought Caprica survived more than 1 season.
They did that split season crap with a long gap in between sections. Even 24 couldn't have survived being 12+12.
>>>where each episode had a beginning, a middle and an end with closure and resolution.<<<
Amen, Bro! If I wanted soap operas, I’d tape the daytime shows.
WHAT?!? No “Homeboys In Outer Space”? We LOVED that show!
Moonlight. 1 season, despite a People’s Choice Award for Best New Series.
Haven’t seen “Firefly” but the movie based on the series is “Serenity” and it blew me away when I saw it for the first time.
First rate cast and lots of action. I picked out elements of Star Wars, Andromeda, and Farscape woven deftly (like that word?) into it.
Carpica was so stupid that I turned the channel. Space Above and Beyond was amateurish and had things that defied the laws of physics, plus using machine guns in space.
Best series of recent times was “Farscape”. All I can say about it is “Incredible”. Met a lot of the cast. Really funny, laid back people, but then again, they’re Aussies.
Gigi Edgley - cute as a bunny. Same for Rae Lee Hill. Got a great picture of me and Bianca Chiaminello (sp), Miss Australia and one of the show’s prettiest women. I know life is hard, but someone has to pose with them (and with Chase Masterson, Robin Curtis, Tracy Scroggins and Tanya Roberts).
Scifi-chicks rule!!!
What about Journeyman?
I wish they had Alien Nation. Loved that show.
