But your accepting of the premise and your counter premise were both distasteful, and those who didn’t “get it” were really outraged.

I have a similar argument in abortion debates - I’ll “accept” any weird scenario that the “I’m a good person” pro-abort puts forth up until I have them arguing for abortion for convenience the day before birth. Some are ashamed at that point and change the subject. Few want to argue for that. For an example, see the Barbara Boxer exchange on the Senate floor - google her name and “I’m not answering these questions”.

I know 2ndDivisionVet's first and last name, but I am deleter of FR mail so although I remember he gave me his email address on more than one occasion, I suspect I deleted that mail during one of my various sweeps ...lol. I know I never used email to communicate with him or I'd not aa problem today!

Like you, I am very heartened to see the wonderful replies in support of 2ndD! He's very much missed and I can only hope and pray he is lurking and will see this thread and make an immediate return.

I’m not going to miss the vicious attacks every time somebody spoke the tiniest criticism of Sarah Palin. I like her a lot, but nobody is perfect.

I agree, nobody here is worthy of the idolatry that has been bestowed on several of the members here.......even if they are willing to "hit it".........

Yup, he sure did and a heck of a lot more mild mannered and nicer guy than a lot of folks here, dang sure including me.

Heck, most of us have posted stuff we are ashamed of at times. Sometimes disagreement over people or issues is supposed to be shameful. I am not so sure that if we actually went back over all that, we could actually say the guy that seemed crazy at the time wasn’t right. Time and looking back may make some who were certain they were so right, embarrassed.

That is why debate and disagreement at times is important.

I get over stuff because I have had to in my personal life. I think most people do too.

I used to spar with him all the time. He is a decent a good guy, I believe. I sure ain’t no better than him. We shared some of the same troubles. I would be more concerned because he did have some health issues.
