A group of 28 U.S. attorneys general is urging chief executive officers of five major retailers, including Walmart, to stop selling tobacco products, saying it is contradictory to carry such items in stores that also provide health care services.
The companies receiving a letter on Sunday from the group were Wal-Mart Stores Inc, supermarket operators Kroger Co, Safeway Inc, which operate pharmacies, and drugstore chains Walgreen Co and Rite Aid Corp.

here’s a thought, let the attorney generals concetrate on ILLEGAL drugs and CRIME and quit trying to be my mother.
Amen!
Cigarette taxes are a major source of revenue for many states so banning their sales will likely mean lower tax revenues and the need to raise taxes elsewhere including on non smokers. Minnesota has dramatically raised cigarette taxes to partially fund a new stadium for the Minnesota Vikings and is already struggling as cigarette tax revenues are less than expected.
Maybe they could even concentrate on illegal aliens, too.
That would give them plenty to do. They obviously have a lot of time on their hands.
I can already see where these scumbags are going with this. They want to set up cigarette shops like the pothead shops in WA and
CO and then “tax the hell” out of cigarettes they way they are taxing the potheads.
IS IT LEGAL???? IF IT IS,JUST SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!
LOL, to bad. The local reservation already beat them to it.
These AGs must really hate choomer puffers.
Unless they’re hypocrites.
Right! And smokes are sacred on them sovereign nations! LOL!
How about alcohol? If they are successful in this asinine demand, how long will it take until they use the same “logic” to demand they stop selling candy, bread, and meats,
Ping.
I don’t think they want to do a rehash of Prohibition. They’ll need to keep the soma and Victory Gin flowing, the worse they make the economy . . .
well now there you go talking sense.
How do you sleep at night?

Thanks Olog-hai.
Why don’t they pressure all retailers to stop selling tobacco? Why don’t they outlaw possession? Something to think about.
Why not urge them to stop selling knives and hammers. Both of those have caused the deaths of many Democrats. How about all those OTC drugs....abuse of most anything can cause death. Eating too much broccoli would probably kill most people - ban broccoli now!
I don’t smoke, so o can sign a executive order and watch smokers become politically active. New voters for the right. Ever see a smoker forced to stop? They can be mean.
They are reminding me of Britain in the 1970s, who were getting very ban-happy.
