...Investigators search co-pilot's home and reveal home-made flight sim built by plane's captain
Daily Mail ^ | March 15, 2014 | By WILLS ROBINSON and RICHARD SHEARS

Investigators say the missing Malaysia Airlines jet was hijacked, steered off-course and could have reached Pakistan. A Malaysian government official said people with significant flying experience could have turned off the flight's communication devices. The representative said that hijacking theory was now 'conclusive', and, as a result, police have raided the luxury homes of both the captain and the co-pilot.

Sorry about the title, it had to be shortened. Excerpted the juiciest part of that title.

From article:
In Shah’s house a flight simulator has been set up and is understood to have interested police following up one line of investigation - that he had used the equipment to practice making his real-life Boeing 777 ‘invisible’ by turning off all communications.

What’s with the alarmist headline? It’s reasonable, and fairly common for a commercial airliner pilot to have a simulator at home.

Sheila Jackson Lee says the plane has been missing for 400 years.

There was/is a video of the dude in front of his simulator.

Which indicates nothing, really.

Pilot is a pretty high position in that part of the world.
Mayhap the dude grooved to aviation and wanted to maintain a top skill level.

You ever work out job related stuff at home, just because it’s your thing and you enjoy proficiency?

I saw an article after the plane went missing about two women that flew on that plane the first leg of the flight. They said that they were invited to sit in the cockpit with the pilots. They did and one of the pilots was smoking on the flight and they all just talked and had a conversation. Did anyone else read this?

I think the Malaysians are keeping a day or 2 ahead of what they tell anyone.

I have a friend that has flight simulator software on his computer. He’s been crashing into carrier decks for ten years!

Worst case scenario, pilots involved in commandeering plane for later use in delivery of nuke.

Most likely is crash of some sort, but other explanations aren’t demisable.

Having a simulator in his home didn't sound unusual, but the part about practicing on how to turn off all communications sounds pretty suspicious. Is that based on data or just conjecture (i.e., are they able to confirm that he used his simulator to go into 'stealth mode', or was that just a feature available on the simulator)?

“...two women that flew on that plane the first leg of the flight. They said that they were invited to sit in the cockpit with the pilots.”

I think this is a little bit garbled. My understanding is that the co-pilot got in some trouble years ago for inviting 2 women passengers into the cockpit with him. Not women on this plane. I don’t know about smoking.

However, I did hear Sean Hannity say the other day that he’s been in the cockpit of airplanes, so perhaps that’s something that’s done. I know he’s not a cute girl, but still.

I dont think its a big deal the pilot had a simulator..Ive seen his youtube video I think his simulator looks pretty darn cool..He’s been flying for 33 years obviously he loves his job maybe he’s one of those types of people who love taking their job home with them..what I am more interested in is who said “All Right Good Night” before the plane was transferred into Vietnamese airspace..according to CNN, the ACARS was turned off first, then the transponder, and that “All Right Good Night” is not normal pilot lingo
