Love the muffin tin idea! I have PLENTY of those, and I can make a good case to Darlin that I can use some of them in the garden and not soil them with good clean soil! I like the idea of having the seedling in a situation in which it would be easy to peel off the container or pierce it so its little toes can get out!
That is their website. The link below takes you to a page there and second from the bottom on the left side is the seed starter. I ordered some from Sears, 4 - 16 qt. bags and it was cheaper than at Amazon. Four big bags like that is a lot but the stuff isn’t easy to find and as many seeds as I start, I never want to run out again.

I’ll never forget when we were in the MIDDLE of a house move, and Darlin obtained a baby cockatiel...so there we were, all over with boxes, AND feeding this precious little bundle at the same time at hourly intervals!
I got my boards out to the supports in the yard and leveled the supporting shelf units, also, I drilled the drainage holes in the shallow tubs that will be my containers. Next comes the filling with potting soil. My wife bought Sta-Green potting soil. I am impressed with this potting soil, It looks like soil, rich, black soil, no lumber in it. It was not cheap, but so what, it is many times better than the MG potting soil they sell. I usually buy Potting soil from the seed store, so this in my first time handling this kind. Before long, I will be putting in the drip system and a timer. This area is just about 6ft from a hose bib.
We have 2 store bought mater plants that have blooms and have not yet put them in the ground, Early Goliath, and Golden Pear.
My wife cut off the dead foliage from the frozen container plants. Maybe, just maybe... there is some life in there.
Hmmmm I did the same thing and despaired of ever getting any chamomile. Probably dumped two packets of seed before giving up!
I just put them in the dirt next to my Echinacea, and now I’m wondering if I might have a surprise coming at me too! I have a lot of leaf mulch in that bed that I have not tried to clear away yet.

I trimmed back the bristly dead thyme which I did not harvest since we did some spot house painting, and they got dripped on. Also, I have an abundance of dried thyme already! So I’m waiting to see it start greening up, along with the oregano which I keep in the same pot.
I’m making that comment about it greening up as a positive statement since both were gracious to do so last year!
Hmmmm. But we’ve got a plumbing project tomorrow that *has* to get done (I’ve griped too much to back out now) Maybe if it gets done earlier than I expect.
Still haven’t gotten there. DH is on Spring Break (from substituting) next week, so I’m planning to go either Wednesday morning or Thursday morning. It’s going to be a wild week; trying to cram a bunch of neglected errands/ TTDs into 5 days. (Praise God, though, that he has had an assignment every day since he started!)
I got the spinach in “under the wire”, but it hasn’t sprouted yet. Carrots & turnips coming up nicely. (& got some herbs & flowers started in the kitchen windows)
What happens when you plant outside the optimum days? I planted carrots & turnips like that last year + late & got “baby” versions, but they were delicious. There are no above ground dates until the end of the month & that’s late.
Tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday are "above ground days", and I am planting some Spinach, despite the March 1st date..As cold as it's been, surely, we won't be in the mid 90's in two months..
Okay, I'm being an optimist, and I have Spinach seeds..In fact I planted some today. BTW, my Spinach Seed Tape I planted the 24 of February in the ground in my greenhouse isn't up..The lettuce next to it is, but not the spinach.
I'm spending the evening making up larger containers (larger than the 5 ou. cups) for several types of peas and two types of broccoli, and two types of cucumbers - all these small cups have so many plants in them they are crowded. All types of peas came up fast and are growing fast. All these plants up, of course, were in Espoma seed starter, the starter of the gods.
AND, IT'S RAINNG AGAIN RIGHT NOW - not hard but it's coming down. I didn't get out there to put row cover over everything and that scares me due to the killer squirrels.
Okay, I went out there and covered all the plants. The water will dry on my shirt, hair, etc., and I won't worry about the freaking squirrels all night.
We visited our local greenhouse today and found that they had no potting soil, which we desperately need. They also had no seeds! We spoke to the owner, and it seems that both are expected in Wednesday or Thursday, delayed shipments because of the weather. We’re going to buy regular Espoma potting soil rather than seed starter, and jalapeno seeds. We already have a bag of vermiculite to mix in with the potting soil.
Here’s to you getting a surprise! Mine are, knock on wood, the brightest green and very healthy. Don’t know why since they’ve had zero care until the last maybe 3 weeks since they popped up. They survived several nights of freezes with one down to 15.
Mr. Sg used Jiffy seed starter last year and it worked well. Maybe they changed something....

Yikes! We’re only doing every-two-hour feedings and we’re not even moving! What was he thinking?
I’ve been packaging up seeds this week. Hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow I’ll have some listed on Etsy, it depends on how many interruptions I have to deal with.
I had been putting it off because I couldn’t get my labels to print right. Well, the ones I ordered from other people on Etsy were packaged in printer paper that was folded over and taped shut. I nearly spilled the seeds trying to open it to see what they were, because they weren’t labelled at all. Suddenly, hand-written names on little coin-sized envelopes doesn’t look so bad :)
This year I’m selling Red Kuri Squash, Tennessee Sweet Potato Squash, Climbing Triple Crop Tomato, Opalka Tomato, and Dragon Egg Cucumbers. No T-Squash this year, although I should have enough next year to sell. For every seed packet I sell, 25 cents willl be donated to my mom’s missionary team. (She’s also going to be selling them at her church as a fundraiser.)
Over the summer I’m hoping to get the labels thing figured out so it will look more professional, and I’m also hoping to get a website set up where people can choose from a list of charities to support with their purchase. We’ll see. If nothing else, I should have a wider selection next year, since I’m planting a lot more this year.
Other than that, not much happening on the gardening front. We’re still under a blanket of snow, with more expected.
