China may feel overwhelmed by all the choices available to them now on the world stage. They must be looking at just how easy it has been so far for their 'friend in facism' Putin, to invade and retake Crimea, a virtual overnight operation, and not a terribly bloody one at that. The violence needed to retake Crimea does not compare to what happened and continues to happen in Syria. How did he do it? The Chinese will watch and learn. They will likely wait a month or two for this Ukrainian / Crimean situation to settle into some sort of routine, then THE OTHER SHOE WILL DROP. They may invade Taiwan, take those islands near Japan, or strike up some dollar-alligiance with Venezuela. There are so many choices!
In one corner of the world, China has just finalized a deal with Zimbabwe which allows the Chinese Government to mine for diamonds and other precious metals. There are no other serious bids to mine of develop land from any other powerful country. Closer to home, there is an ongoing dispute over the Senkaku Islands, five small, uninhabited islands in The East China Sea. Both China and Japan have claimed themselves as rightful owner. The ownership of these areas of land remains in dispute. China has been ramping up the verbal aggression here lately, making Japan rethink having all American Forces completely leave their country.
Of course Taiwan has long been a sore point for China. China want this nation reabsorbed under direct Chinese rule. It matters not that the Taiwanese do not want to be under their Communist thumb anymore. China has systematcially, incrementally been destroying the authentic Taiwan for years. Their traditional places of worship, their way of life, their family structure, all interfered with or close to being wiped out.
Meanwhile, President Obama plans to appear again on The View and discuss that Selfie from the Oscars Awards that broke Obama's "most tweeted-EVER!" record.
If I was China, I wouldn’t wait . . . why bother? The time is now. Take the Senkakus. Taiwan, it can wait.
If I where China I would encourage Russia to take the whole European continent then after all there battles are almost won, I would conquer Russia.
Taiwan has all ready surrendered. It’s not an issue to the Communists.
Taiwan, which they may do. Then on to Vietnam, North Korea, Siberia and the Philippines, etc.
Take Taiwan. Now is the time for results, not symbolism.
I worked as an HR staffer for CoWorx at a Foxxconn plant, supposedly owned by ROC (Taiwanese) interests, yet PRC people came and went every day.
China can simply donate to the Democrats, as it has in the past.
No more calls, ladies and gentlemen. We have a winner!!
The Russians are sitting on a literal gold mine in Siberia, and have 150 million people to defend an incredibly vast land. China could take 200 million casualties and still have 900 million people left. Especially if Russia's forces are tied up in the West. Transport through a huge and undeveloped Siberia would be the challenge.
I would try to stop laughing at Obama long enough to order in some Cajun food.
That is IF I was running China.
Join with Russia, start WW-3 and kick the crap out of Europe and the US!
Unless China decides to fight Japan over some rocks in the ocean, WWIII is going to be all about major shifts in the economic control of the globe.
Interesting.
Back Russia and stop the US dollar from being the reserve currency in the world and sell off all US debt.
Very good points. Esp. 3rd and last. Keep the capitalist fires burnin and churnin needed revenue, and play the Good Cop against Putin’s Villian character Bad Cop Russki. Even the stone cold Maoists know that you need some amount of free trade to be allowed in order to keep the economy perpetuating itself. Hellsinki can wait.
If I was actually the leader?
Legalize Christianity and encourage its growth
If I was a ruthless communist leader?
Seize the Senkaku islands and bar John Kerry from the country
LOL!
I hear there are millions of hidden christians in China right now. Every once in a while, I read of some missonary from the west getting in trouble for spreading the Good Word around. With the internet, it will get harder and harder to censor faith in God. Who would have thought in the 21st Century, people would still need to hide their bibles? Africa is the same story.
