“no Flight of the Phoenix?”
I remember seeing that one, also The Blue Max, at the drive-in with my parents when I was a wee lad.

How about the WWII films AIR FORCE and 12 O’CLOCK HIGH.
Then the original MEMPHIS BELLE.
***he pilot for the version they built (in a real airplane workshop) crashed it and died.***
I remember a magazine publishing pictures of that crash.
The best “airplane” movie should be presented to all college freshmen: “The Aviator.” It shows why you can have freedom and innovation or regulation, but not both.
1. The Aviator
2. Airplane!
3. anything else.
Man in the Sky with Jack Hawkins. Great British flick.
I liked “The High and the Mighty” too. I liked the part where the stewardess (not flight attendant) tells the passengers that they will be fed during the eight hour flight from Honolulu to San Francisco.
I know you. You’re Kareem Abdul Jabbar!
Feh ...
Memphis Belle?
The Bridges at Toko-Ri?
Strategic Air Command?
633 Squadron?
Twelve O’Clock High?
What? No “Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines”?
Watched it about a month ago. Hadn’t seen it in 30 years!
Let’s start from the start.
Wings (1927) (IMDb rating 7.9)
Hell’s Angels (1930) (7.9)
The Dawn Patrol (1938)(7.7)
Dive Bomber (1941) (6.6)
Twelve O’Clock High (1947) (7.8)
The Bridges at Toko-Ri (1954) (6.9)
Strategic Air Command (1955) (6.3)
Toward the Unknown (1956) (6.6)
Bridges at Toko Ri
The Fighting Lady
I saw “Blue Max” with my parents at a young age.
When Ursula Andress emerged from her bath barely wearing two towels, I was quickly dispatched to the lobby for popcorn.
